Started to work on my Pacific Electric interurbans

Today, I sanded down the flash on my Miniatures By Eric Pacific Electric 1100-1149 interurban and 1445-1449 Box Motor. I noticed that I am missing the steps below the freight doors of the freight motor, and it looks like I can use Micro Trains baggage car steps.

I have sanded down the flash and I have been working on the castings for the 1100, and plan to start gluing everything into place. I have ordered a pair of Tomix chassis to power these.

Maybe if you used Neolube?  That will give me a nice dark weathered finish, and I hope it is more conductive than my skin.  :)

John, you're giving me P.E. fever  I like it!
I better get going on this 1200 car. It will be unpowered, just scenery around San Berdoo... for the right "flavor".
Oh, Pete, easy on the lube :D

John,  that's an old (and rather primitive) Western Railcraft kit I think. The brass sides are very good, I like the thinness of the body, the rest of the kit is not much more than some wood scraps. You can still find them on Feebay occasionally. WR made a number of PE prototypes, including the baggage express cars. I built this one some thirty years ago, I should really find time to finish it

I shot the cars today and now need to paint the orange stripe above the windows on the 1100, then decal them. I know that the box motor will be Pacific Electric 1449, but I have no idea of what number to use on the 1100.

I'm looking forward to seeing your window idea. You might want to study some prototype photos and then drill or file the end porthole windows open a bit.

I am getting closer to finish up the Pacific Electric 1124 (I chose that number since they all were all together on the decal sheet). I still need paint and install the lights and get/paint/install the poles.

I put a Los Angeles letter board and destination sign on one end and a Long Beach letter board and destination sign on the other end. Yes, I  know that the 1100’s never ran to Long Beach, but see Rule #1 of model railroading….
