Well, we all start with a blank slate. Some of us are just more willing to literally admit it.

I am returning to modeling after a 10-month break. Due to limited space in a small apartment in Juneau/Douglas, AK, I am having to be very deliberate in how I approach this build. It is a 2x4 N free-form, free style layout. No track plan, developing it as I go along, laying out the track with one leftover section of ME Code 55 flex. The layout is divided into a Marias Pass-type Montana side and a desert side that will rep The Mojave Desert. Siding will be called Ponderosa on the mountain side and Dirt City on the desert side. Siding at Ponderosa will come off the main with a loading dock and a possible oil loading from a tank and pump. Dirt City still in planning. I’ve used a design taken from a DKS plan for the desert side.
The first shipment from N Scale Supply arrives today for a long weekend of track laying and scenic fun. I have two portals, one after the backdrop and one in the backdrop. The line will cross The Glacier River over a Central Valley 150’ Pratt Truss bridge. I am trying to accomplish some modeling I’ve never done before. Modeling of mountain cliffs, mountain river, lots of forest with summer grass in front of the trees. This weekend.
• Complete rock staining
• Layout portals and wrap around rocks
• Complete CV Bridge
• Put one section of ME C-55 flex from bridge through tunnel to Dirt City.
• Layout Ponderosa, MT turnouts and C-40 track off mainline.
Scenic Express package coming with static grass, tufts and conifer trees. Lots of course to do. I hope to have some progress shots this weekend.
Thanks for reading and have a great Memorial Day Weekend.

Due to shipping to Alaska and what was available, N SUPPLY got the order after months of research. Bills Track, AB, Midwest all contenders. Was going Peco and opted for Micro Engineering so that ruled out Feather River and Midwest. Klein and Bill out of turnouts. ME C-55 #6 TO's. Ordered Monday and here today.
