Interesting looking car. Are those doors on the side of the car?

Yes, flat bottomed gondolas with side gates to dump ballast to the outside of the rails and were built by Marine Industries.

An interesting week beginning last Wednesday:

Brookville shipped the second rebuilt El Paso PCC back to its' hometown:

A vacation day Friday had me in Olean NY in the morning to capture some WNY&P ALCo's at work in the yard:

The trip then went east to Hornell, coming up empty. I then struck out northwest, which resulted is seeing three eastbound trains; unfortunately i was westbound each time.

The final destination was Letchworth State Park in western NY to see the new Portage Bridge on the former ex-Erie mainline:

A dreary and chilly Saturday found me in Westfield NY, where I was finally in the right place at the right time for mainline action:

I spent Saturday night in Canfield OH attending the ELHS Western District Spring Meeting. Good people, great food and a nice venue.  Then back to work, with a another PCC shipment yesterday.  This is Car 1060 going back to San Francisco after some warranty repairs:

OK, lunch is over, now back to work!

How about something different?  Here is a railbus photographed at the Main Station in Poznań, Poland.  I took a ride on it to get to the steam loco parade in Wolsztyn.  It is Diesel powered because there is no catenary on that branch line.

Lots of numbers on that loco.  So which one is the "loco number" ?

From what I can tell, it is the SA139-007 (well the 007 part). This is a 2-unit set (permanently coupled) and the other unit will be numbered SA139-006 (or -008).

More info (in Polish: https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pesa_Link ).
Not sure about the other numbers.

The above Wiki entry has a photo of a similar unit, and there is a difference in both numbers.

European railroad numbering system is quite different from North American and I don't know all of its nuances. I know some digits are control digits (sort of a checksum).

Yes they are. Loved listening to and seeing them move about the yard.

Now I know what to do with that old Bachmann PCC car with the stripped gears- flatcar load for a low clearance flatcar.

Another shot of broad gauge (5'3") B65, this time inside the loco terminal at Bendigo a couple of weeks ago
