I finished the arched window Northern Pacific diner #1679.
That car looks great. You've made a lot of progress since the last week's update.  The roof details are very nice and the large windows do a great job of showing off your detailed interior.
The fabric of reality has begun to fray.

No serious modeler would consider using a cheap Life-Like snap-together stock pen on a narrow gauge layout! Well it’s a good thing I’m not a serious modeler! This is part of my plan for a compressed Old Placerville. I distressed the plastic boards and then sprayed them with Rustoleum Weathered Wood and then dry-brushed then with Testors Flat Earth and Americana Oyster Beige. The only modification is that I replaced the kit’s clunky steps with a set from Grandt Line.

Those are not part of buoy markers, they are Yokohama Fenders. They can be hug from chain  on the side of a jetty or wharf to protect a ship from said jetty or wharf, or they do float so they can be tied between the ship and the "wall" by rope.  We use them all the time in the Royal Canadian Navy, especially when we nest two ships abreast.

Two can be seen floating alongside HMCS Ottawa (FFH 341) in this shot:

I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday with @Ed Kapuscinski and @DeltaBravo. Started at Ed’s place with a little project updating and some photo shooting:

This was followed by some serious wood ... working in Delta’s new shop space where in Ed assembled TTrak module frames from actual wood. We even let him play with tools (though the rotate function in the gallery is not making me happy today)

I've been meaning to get into making some smooth sided cars for a GN train that used to run here in MN, the Badger/Gopher.   I picked up two car sides from Union Station Products to toy around with, but I've been struggling with how to deal modifying some concor cars I have.

In the meantime, I threw together a cheap way of making custom cars in BSB.  Photoshop to the rescue!  ;)

At least until my new cores arrive from San Juan Car Company this week.  :D

OK, so I was going to say.. 'Wait a minute, those doors look painted/decaled on..' But that TOTALLY WORKS as a stand in!.. Cool Idea..

Yes, it does look good.  I could see using those at a train show, where you might not want the detailed models due to small hands getting too close.

For painting your good models, BSB is easy to do.  Paint the sides blue, and use a strip of white decal for the stripe.  For brass sides, I painted the sides before gluing them on, so the only masking was for the gray skirts.

Worked on the scrap metal facility landscape and spur.  The building is from the Superior Paper Company, and has been cut in half.  The background buildings are pressure sensitive vinyl applied to the background.

I may actually put some handrails on and see how that looks.

I'm trying some  styrene sides on these and was wondering how hard it would be to pre-paint, but I like the decal stripe idea.

I installed a panel-mount DIN plug and a matching connector for a Varipulse PWM throttle to my Little River Logging Company layout over the weekend. Between that and some tweaking of the Atlas Code 55 turnouts, operation is a bit smoother, now.

It looks fantastic! I'd love to see more photos of your layout. Boiler-Up!

Not N scale, but I got to run on my friend Steve Mahan's Pacific Coast ( February 2018 MR) this weekend. A beautiful layout, fully scenicked, runs like a Swiss watch, but with sound  :o
It's no secret I love passenger trains, even the SP...

Diezmon:  A company named "Virnex" used to make decal stripes with no clear film, just the printed stripes, and even better, they made 7/64 inch stripes, 17.5 inches in N.  The GN's passenger stripes were 18 inches, so the decal stripes worked perfectly.  I haven't seen Virnex mentioned in years, and assume they're out of business, but Microscale white trim film works fine.  I believe they also make GN passenger car stripes, but haven't tried them.

Chris - Your autumn trees are amazing.  Please tell me which groundcover or leaf product you used on those...please.
