ATSF (4 wheel trucks, need to add sill, prototype does not have belt rail- see Drasko's comments in earlier in this thread)B&O (class H-11)C&O (110-112)CNWC&A/GM&O (photos I found had modernized windows, but 6 window pattern- seems reasonable that as delivered would resemble Atlas car)CBQ (2330 and 2341 and I assume others)FEC (photos in Speedway to Sunshine book)L&NNH (see Brian Bussey comments earlier in the thread)N&W (4 wheel trucks, #s 90-98) (generally similar, but different roof- low arched. In Railway Post Office History book)Southern (4 wheel trucks)
Maybe some of you have disvovered this, but the window "glazing" is not glued in, but held in place with double-sided tape. Shirt coller plastic accurately describes the material used for window glazing. It can be removed fairly easily with a fresh #11 blade slide between glazing and body. You need to do a bit at a time, and keep the separated glazing from sticking back to the body. Bestine may help, not sure if it would affect the clarity though.I hope Atlas make those thin, flexible "drain" pipes available as a replacement part, as I'm sure many of us will breake them at some point. Trying to remember what thread had the guy with a laser cutter making window inserts for passenger cars. These new Atlas cars seem like a ripe market for him (or anybody else who is interested in making and selling them.
I got a few cars to have around for kit bashing. I've opened the baggage and coach so far and the bodies are bowed. I wish I knew enough about injection molding to understand why we still get products like this. Not sure if they are even usable for a kit bash. Jason
