Also has a different door, different trucks and different ends. But it is a good match for other series of the car.One issue with the MTL car is the ends. Instead of notching the end to clear the coupler, they raised the whole bottom edge. so it doesn't line up with the sides. I imagine this compresses the rib pattern too, but haven't measured to see.Jason
It's also smaller than the prototype. LOL JOe
As much as I've tried to remove myself from prototypical policing, something about the phrase "spot on" still gets me going.I'm working on it.Jason
So regardless of paint schemes, what specific prototype is the MT car body based on?Otto K.
I'm not home at the moment, but I did find this car on an earlier search that I think matches the MTL car pretty well.Jason
Nobody pays attention to me. See Jan MR, p 116, for pictures and info on the prototype car the MTL model is based on. The paint schemes may be from all eras, but the car is not.
In 1957 General American built this 52’ 2” all steel riveted express refrigerator car, with plug door for the Railway Express Agency. Their 7400 road series, was painted in REA’s most common color scheme; medium green with black underframe, white lettering, and red and white logo. This 65,800 lb capacity car rolls on Commonwealth BX trucks designed for high-speed baggage and express service. Number 7870 was used to haul perishables, express packages, and mail. REA had agencies in most stations where “less-than-carload” (LCL) freight could be transferred to trucks for delivery. This road series is distinguished from the 6100-6599 series which were welded, not riveted.Features:Working "Equipco" Ice HatchesMorton "Open-Grip" snap-on running boards and platformsFinely crafted plate and rivet detailSix part brake system in detailed 3D underframeNew Commonwealth BX Express Trucks with 5' 10" scale wheelbase, and medium+ extension Magne-Matic® CouplersEquipped with Ajax hand brake

Are you saying that the Micro-Trains model 052 isn't prototypical? Javier
Joe is joking.
