FYI, Scott has commissioned me to design Pullman 242 trucks for these projects, so no more messing around with "almost".

Erie betterrment roofs will also be on their way soon and an arch roof for the 12-1.

FYI @CBQ Fan ...

@Scott Lupia , are you planning on offering those cool etched roof vents separately?

Very promising!  Looking forward to it!

John, I will look into offering an etched set of roof vents.  I like that idea.

With the success of the 6-6 sleeper I just finished the artwork for the plan 4074 10-1-2 “scenic” series sleepers.  I am also working artwork for plan 3523 6-3 sleepers and plan 3979 8-1-2 sleepers.  The 8-3-1 won’t be far behind.  I am having a load of fun with these sides.

Cool!  I pinkie-swear that I will buy some of the 242 trucks, especially if they are a drop-in fit for the Micro-Trains cars.

The only cars I plan on doing that are obscure like that are DL&W buffet lounges and diners.  I need those!

One man's obscure is another man's Holy Grail.
Since I am very close to finishing Phoebe's last car, I thought my next project would be a pre-Phoebe Lackawanna Limited. since I have a nice Pocono to pull it ;)

So there's time, but let's get busy on these, I will NEED them   :D

You're hitting all the popular plans now.  They could be done in plastic by MTL, but they seem to have slowed in the heavyweight series.

I can see this is going to get expensive before it's all over. But no need to worry about finding a use for the MT 12-1s we all have.

Absolutely.  At some point they will be done in plastic by someone. It’s not much of an investment on my part right now to put these sides out. It’s something I am looking forward to.

Hi Scott,
Looking at the photos of that car here and on the Modeling the PRR in N Scale FB Page I can only wait for your product to be come available. The list above is the PRR roster of the 4060 cars and is suitable enough to have at least two of the models in a roster. It would be interesting to see what other roads used the 6040 plan. Great work Scott.

Poplar cars were used on other roads as well, but they weren't all the same. On Mr. LaBoda's site I found links to pictures of similar cars to these that were painted for SP and 2-tone Pullman gray.

Scott,
Will these various sides be available on the KV website at some point, or should we all be sending emails pleading with you to make a couple extra for us?

The 6-6 cars certainly got around.  On the Santa Fe, in 1937 they ran on the Chief under Pullman letterboards, to be replaced in 1938 by lightweight equipment.  But 5 (names unknown) reappeared in 1957 when leased for use running between Dallas and LA- interchanged between 5 different trains to get them there.  1957 was a year in which ATSF actually experienced a sleeper car shortage, and they leased a lot of heavyweights for the summer season. Ironically, the early-mid 50s saw them retire several classes of the heavyweight sleepers they had purchased in the Pullman break up- so when the rush hit in 1957, they had to lease some.

The sides will be available on KVModels.com as well my eBay store.  I did the initial test run of sides which are gone now. They will go into production now and remain in inventory indefinitely.

I, for one, really need a 3 compartment, 1 drawing room, lounge/buffet, sun room car.  I plan on making one of these butt-ugly things in the near future:

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1244686

Plans for it are in the Oct. '88 Mainline Modeler.  I can email you the plans, Scott, if you don't have them.
