Lunde Studio building kits

Like to hear about building one of these from somebody who's done one. Apparently they're not plastic like the DPM building kits.

They are resin-cast kits and they are some of the best resin-cast buildings I have ever seen.  They have mitered corners, and the backs of the walls are smooth. No flash either - all clean castings.  I have several of them and while I have not built any, I have test-fit the parts - they go together very well.  I am very impressed with them (and you know that I'm not impressed easily). 

I'm sure some members here have build these kits- I have feeling they will also give glowing reviews.

Same here--I have a few unbuilt kits, and the castings are some of the best I've seen. I've communicated with Lunde and know that the casting reject rate was pretty high. He was exremely fussy about quality, and refused to sell any rejects under any circumstances.

It is urethane resin - use the same adhesive you use on all the other urethane resin kits you've built.  I usually use CA glue and accelerator, but epoxy will work too.

I have the Ashbury hotel and a slightly bashed Chadwick Tower about 1l2 way done (trying to decide how much time, effort and $$ to invest in interiors). Easiest windows I have ever worked with.  Window sashes are cast as a separate sheet- so you can paint all those parts with an airbrush or rattle can without getting a drop on the brick or stone exterior wall.  When everything dries, you glue the entire window sheet to the back of the wall.  No 10/0 brush strokes trying to paint dozens of windows like you encounter with a DPM building.


The score lines are provided in case the windows do not line up exactly with the holes in the brickwork (it is the nature of resin casting that there may be very small variations due to temp and humidity, etc, during casting)- snap on the score lines and work with smaller sections to get them aligned.

 
What is the DPM plastic, anyway?  I always figured it was some sort of resin, maybe just because they are so thick.  The only DPM stuff I have that looks like injection molded styrene are the modulars.

Nope, injected styrene. The tooling was an unusual process, initially involving "one-part" molds--the other "part" was just flat steel.

No matter what the wall are made of, MEK still scratches my itch

i, too, have a couple that i have yet to build
too many moves and life changes
anyway...do not recall where i purchased them
but from whomever it was they noted MEK as
the go to for these kits???
i remember because i bought a bottle of MEK
with them. MEK never opened, so i know nothing
about how it works with these
but it was the recommended adhesive. 
go figure
