New Server coming soon

As some of you have seen, Railwire has been having some connectivity problems over the last two months.  Tech Support from the hosting company hasn't been helpful, so it's time to move on.  I spent some time researching what company to use, and I wanted to make sure that the company wasn't a part of or had plans to be a part of EIG. Long story short: I have found a new host and have most of the Railwire content migrated over.  So the plan is:

1.  One late night this week (depending on my schedule) make Old Railwire (i.e., this) read only. There will be a period of time where Railwire will not be accessible.
2.  Back up the database and install onto New Railwire.
3.  Update Name Servers. Again, depending on where you are, there will be a waiting time until therailwire.net points to the new server. 
4.  Migrate new Gallery content (i.e., what ever was added to the gallery this week).

 If all goes well (and it will, I've done this before  ) you'll wake up to a new Railwire and you won't even know the difference. It'll look just the same. Since the work will be done at night, only @peteski will notice the outage.

That is a good new  - hopefully the new hosting servie won't' cost you more than the HostGator.  As far as the overnight outage goes, I can deal with it (for the good of everybody). 

But I'm far from being alone posting overnight. There is about half a dozen members who like me,  are night-posters. And not just from the Southern Hemisphere.

Yep, thanks! I just discovered Google Chrome ignores the hosts file so this is hard to test myself with 100% confidence as to what I’m seeing is what everyone sees.

I should go to bed. 4 hours sleep 2 nights ago and 5 hours last night with two 12 hour snow plowing shifts while awake. I'm surprised I haven't passed out yet. Sleep is over rated when you can play with trains.
