I made a video about it. I'm using bluepoint machines and i'm getting shorts when the turnout is thrown one way, but not the other.
I'm sure this is something simple, but I'm dumb.

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!
Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Do you have the rails properly gaped and if they are do you have a power feed to the frog? Check that the wires to the switch leading to the frog are connected properly. HTH

Seems that the frog is at a wrong polarity and when the tender truck crosses the gap, it shorts out. Can you draw a diagram of how the turnout is wired wired to the contacts of the switch machine?

can't tell from the picture - so you might want to recheck the wiring and make sure that the right wires are attached to the right contacts. Only comes to mind that someone I know wired up his first 4 Tortoises Blue - Red - Green - Black - Red2 - Green2 - Black2 - White when the diagram clearly shows that it should be
Blue - Red - Black - Green - Green2 - Red2 - Black2 - White.
With the Frog wired to Green, interesting things happened ;(

All switch machines appear to be wired the same way:

I was talking to
@Ed Kapuscinski
and we realized that this particular turnout was one that we had to install...and we had to install it backwards, physically. I switched red and black and we are in business.
Thanks, all for the input!

Good deal. I was about to write that, somehow, the frog was at the wrong polarity and I was going to suggest switching the two wires from the stock rails to the switch around.
Now, I don't have to write that.

I was going to ask if that crossover represented an unnoticed reverse loop. That wouldn't have been so far off.

No scenery until after we hopefully buy a house this summer.
I may ballast, though. Need to decide if I want the Ed K grout.
