Dismantling a layout seemed to be catchy. I'm ready to knock down the framework for the small layout I've had for the past 5 years. Track is all pulled up, most turnouts saved as well as some flextrack. I figured I won't build a larger, better layout, if the other was in the way.

Started building the sawmill for Townsend on my logging layout. I scanned the plans and used photo editing software to adjust the width of the building to fit the space available. All of the wood was stained prior to assembling. The base is complete, and the mill itself just fits after swapping the drive wheel on the steam donkey to the other side.

Is this N ? And if so who makes that mill machinery ?

More progress in York. Two steps forward, one step back.

Valley oil is receiving their first delivery of propane (Off loading facility is finally done)

Thanks,

@SP-Wolf I like the integration of the Duel truck in your scene! Any plans to stage this scene? It would look right at home with all your SP stuff!

Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Yes and no... The structure is the JV Models "Lucas Sawmill," which is N-scale. The mill machinery is the Woodland Scenics "Rural Sawmill" kit, with is HO. It's a small mill, so it works for a bit larger operation in N.

@SP-Wolf
So, Mad About Cars makes them. I emailed him some time last year if he'd do one and he did. I actually met him at the NSE Show in Pittsburgh this summer and spoke to him about it and showed him what I had so far. He said he was in the process of upgrading all his cars to kits there the windows are cut out. He now offers the upgraded Valiant:

I actually did some research in to paints...it's TorRed...and that color changed through out the years. I found matching paint, too.  Here's the thread on my Valiant build:

This is outstanding. I will definitely look into picking up a Valiant from Mad about cars -- I have been checking out his offerings for a while. The Valiant is a bit out of my layouts time frame --- but, it would make for a great photo opp. I do have SD40's SD35's, SD9's and U30C' s--- not the correct road numbers (from the movie) - but - they will get the point across.
I don't think I will modify the rig. I like it the way it is -- fits my mid '50s layout.

You did one heck of a great job in replicating the movie rig!! Out-freakin-standing!!

Thanks,
Wolf

Amazingly, I haven't been distracted by a different project and have finished the detailing on the GP-18. Well, almost finished. It's ready for primer, once the primer is dry I'll be able to add the louver decals, then "just" paint and decals. Here are the pictures.

Dude, go the extra mile and replace those plastic fans with at least etched grills.
