The first batch of trees are finally in on my layout!

Thanks for looking.

Caleb, great job on the trees, super trees I assume.  I am even more impressed with the light weathering on the loco, very realistic.

I finished-up the Elkmont logging camp on my mini logging layout today. Spar tree loader is rigged (just doesn't show very well in photos!), trees added, details & debris added... just waiting on people to arrive next week to finish it off. I started a build thread, too, if anyone is interested in following along. https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=43696.0

That is one of the coolest thing I have ever seen. Always wanted to model a logging show.

I got #3022 weathered up just like the real thing. I love the look of the True-scale coupler, and will use them on the front of my locomotives from now on. I still have some detailing to do including adding sunshades, air hoses, and most importantly, the correct horns.
Bringing the B&O and WM back, one coal drag at a time.

That CR caboose is the ESM Keyser Valler caboose kit. Screens come with it.

Thanks Joe!

I've become fascinated with the Industrial Challenge entries!  If you haven't been following along because they're not in this N&Z forum (might as well be on Mars amirite?), go check them out now!  A lot of cool buildings and techniques being discussed, and there is still time to enter your own if you wish!

Here's part of my latest update, assembling a shop cut out of styrene on the Cameo Silhouette.

Nice work everybody.
Not N Scale but a friend building a HOn3 layout asked if I could paint his backdrop.
Went over and did this bit for him before he added any trees.

Had a lot of fun doing this bit.

What is that axle for? I wouldn't think it was for a hirail vehicle but I could be wrong...

Anyway only thing I have done in N as of late besides sell off a bunch of locomotives.... Is add a rear headlight to a MTL SW1500...

I need to figure out how to cancel out the glow, but MTL windows are damn near impossible to remove...
Hi:
FWIW, I did the same thing back in 2006 with the same chassis. See https://tonystrains.com/new-conversion-of-n-gauge-life-like-sw9-1200-december-5-2006/

Maybe it might give you an idea of how to fix the glare issue. I did not need to remove the windows at all.

Kind regards,
Bill

Amazingly, I haven't been distracted by a different project and have finished the detailing on the GP-18. Well, almost finished. It's ready for primer, once the primer is dry I'll be able to add the louver decals, then "just" paint and decals. Here are the pictures.

That CR caboose is the ESM Keyser Valler caboose kit. Screens come with it. I have to get back to finishing mine. Looks like broken glass was modeled in the cupola. Nice touch. Wonder How I'll do with those small parts now.  The proto's were built on steam loco tender frames, IIRC.

Yes! The screens are steel, not brass. I didn't notice the scratch SOMEHOW until after I did a bad job of gluing in the windows. Ed will have to live with it, but it does kinda look like broken glass. Serves them right for removing the vandal screens!

tl;dr: steel screens in kit, Ed's Law.

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

It's going to York, no problems.  Lots of vandals there to throw rocks, or lead....

I have a feeling that if I do that few times,  :tommann: will disable that functionality. Besides you just gave him a warning.  :)
