Okay, back to bricks. Here are some progress shots. I have to say, it is really nice working with board. Cutting is easy with a sharp knife or razor, and everything glues with white glue. I use rubber cement to laminate the prints to the board.

That looks really nice - much better than I expected.  The gas meter is also a cut-out flat piece?  Sweet! I bet the rubber cement smells really good too!

My only concern might be the use of rubber cement--it has a tendency to degrade over time, and the paper images might start to peel off.

If you are not from Chicago, you may never have heard of Vienna brand hot dogs, this because almost the entire production is consumed within Chicago and adjacent municipalities with very few available for export to other places.

I have, but I had no idea the reason why they stayed in Chicago was because of demand. Amazing, but not surprising. They are indeed the quintessential Chicago dog! For as much as I love chili dogs...I actually like Chicago Dogs more, and that's really saying something that I prefer an encased meat tube topped with veggies over meat chili. It was a sad day when Hot Doug's closed down.

A few things. You can purchase the material that makes sticky-back labels, which is essentially very wide double-sided tape. Or, you can purchase self-adhesive poster board. Or, spread a thin layer of white glue on the board and apply the print.

The board is acid-free mat board. You can usually pick up scraps cheap at framing stores.

Regarding rubber cement, this is what is often used to mount photographs. When you coat both sides, it should be permanent. Spray mount in a can is also rubber cement. You could also use wax mounting tissue, but this works best with a heat press. You might be able to get this to work with an iron.

Regarding the brick texture, a laser cutter may produce good results, but I am not sure you can tell the difference from beyond a few inches. I have a friend with a laser cutter and I am going to look into that.

On the subject of adhesives, I've been very happy using 3M Super 77 Multipurpose Adhesive. It's a spray on, and dries "quick and clear," just like it says on the label. I only started using it a few months ago, so I can't testify as to how it will hold up over the long run, but I've been encouraged so far.
