I'm thrilled to see the D&RGW gons in multiple numbers (right?) for my Utah to Kaiser coal consist. Finally....
Looks like I'll have some extra wood loads to use in other cars.

Ha, I did'nt look that far into it - I guess ExactFail should'a done it.

Exact Fail lived up to their name with their initial run of 4427's in HO when a good number of them were painted as cars built with the lowered handbrakes.

Now they just fail to release anything in N...

I'm in for the NS Autoparts car and maybe the Southern as well as both the Whiskey Hoppers.

Walthers has a 4427 car in their N roster, maybe they’ll do it.

Trainworx also makes a 4427, with the lowered brakewheel.

Anybody else notice that the long shank coupler was put on this covered Hopper. Definitely the wrong coupler to be used. I like the car but it sucks that you got to change the couplers! :x

Walthers probably has a worse case of N-phobia than Exactrail....

Low side with low handbrake:

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=4397043

Plano makes new end cages for the Walthers 4427 in HO, we're on our own in N

http://www.yardoffice.com/RR/Modeling/howto/plano4427.html

Are you referring to the brake wheel placement or the car? Both the Trainworx and MTL's are 4427 High Hips.

The prototype CNW car shown in the link would need to be built with either the Walthers or Exactrail model as a starting point, but with a lowered handbrake and modified end cages.

Sur-purred that the Cotton Belt passenger car set doesn't have a parlor car or two considering that the SSW bought some and converted them to coaches, with smoking rooms in Daylight-paint (two cars)... nice offerings overall... love the idea of the N&W diner!!!

That would have been nice to know back when I first asked RW for any information on them  LOL   We have been working with the author of the Cotton Belt book and we only modeled those cars we had photos of.  If you have some of these and can post/forward them I can get them released as separate items.  Thanks for the heads up.

Cheers

Rule 84, part A, copied directly from the 2011 Field Manual of the A.A.R. Interchange Rules Covered hopper = "LO" - thus exempt...

I was not arguing anyone's point on covered hoppers or anything else.  My statement was based more on what I had read about this whole business elsewhere and was from periods before even 1977.  Even 1977 is out of my era, so for my modelling purposes, familiarity with 1977 rules would not help me.  I have not actually seen the original rule (which, from what I understand, took effect in the late 1930s) or any subsequent revisions.  I know only what I have read about it.

This would make make a nice two car set if you can get the supporting information to make them!
