Coosvalley, I see you replaced the molded-on handrail on the SW9/1200 with wire. Very nice! On my SW9 I've also started, I was planning on being lazy and leaving the cast one there but now you have me reconsidering (not that I'm looking forward to carving these off of yet another shell  :| ;)).

CR4100 jpwisc, your SW1500 looks great! What did you use for the louvers in front of the cab?

My layout has taken a significant step forward with the completion of tracklaying for Chetwynd Yard.

Looking south through the classification yard:

A little further south, with the freight shed at left and the shop tracks on the right:

The Canfor Ltd. mill with main track and trailer ramp in the foreground:

And an overall view of the newly laid yard, with Dawson Creek above:

More photographs at my website.  Next up is a month or more of bus wiring underneath the benchwork.

The PGE reached Chetwynd in February 1958; I am hoping to run my first train into Chetwynd sixty years later in February 2018.

Happy New Year to all,

Tim

We are traveling for the holidays (currently in frigid Ottawa!) so I along brought a couple of small projects to occupy the early hours while the family sleeps.  These are filler projects between the now completed Nelson Station and the arrival of the first parts for the Nelson Diesel house which will be a project of equal scope.

South Slocan Station windows (the laser cut walls for it and the Nelson freight house should be awaiting me at home on my return).  Apologies for the cell phone snaps...but they did capture some areas where the paint needs to be cleaned up on the window frames!

[/img]

Watchman heaters to help in the conversion of the 4 Atlas S2's to match CPR S4's.  Yes these likely would have been good candidates for 3D printing but I wanted to try simply wrapping a stack of profiles with an adhesive backed 5 thou thick cover.  Once painted I think they will be ok.  We shall see...

On the Diesel house project, the first rev of the interior has been designed with its elevated tracks, access walkways and inspection pits and ramps, and successful test plots of the maroon and grey window mullions completed on acetate on a friend's ALPs printer.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2018 to all on TRW!

When and why did this change?  No complaints here, just don’t want to get my hopes up if it is temporary.

Maybe that's what is going to replace the voting system.  Good work gets golden acorns  :D

Thank you - ops should start later in 2018.  I have to get the bus wiring done, then the turnout power and control.  After that it some time will be needed to run the locomotives and rolling stock through an inspection program and run a few test op sessions.

The Nelson diesel house will be great to see in N Scale.  I will have to chat with you about those laser cut structure parts; would be a good route to go for my station windows and doors.

Thank you - Chetwynd is actually the hub out of which all trains will operate during a session.  Dawson Creek has nine industries or facilities to be switched so yes, lots of operation there.

Well after several days or rain the skies have cleared and the sun has come out - time for a walk!  Now where did I put those sunglasses  . . .
