continued to work on the wood kit.  compared ride height and also used the coupler gauge to shim the body up for the coupler.



and those steps were a PITA to get even




I will install the ends once painted, and then make the handrails out of wire.  The stick on handrails are so delicate and tear after they were painted,  so i will try wire.  anybody have thought on that??

I did an E8 set of these with MP reporting marks for a friend. The MicroScale decals have the stripe and a grey portion for the little strip on the front at the nose. The grey did not match the paint color and it was a pain to fix. I ended up sealing the decals as is and then masking the nose and spraying the grey again to match.

Just an FYI to check the colors before you finish them....

These are my projects for today (a year after initial painting ): Texas and Pacific F7A/B. The A, 1581, needs some touch ups done to it and the grille painted, and 1531B just needs the grille painted. Then off to decals. These will go with an OMI E7 I have.

Yes, it was a blast. Ed and Suess are become expert ops on the Aquai Line. In general I find that N Scale modelers seem to do better on the O Scale layout as they are used to handling small items, and the O Scale link and pins are pretty small.

Thank you for the invite. I love that layout. It's something truly special in its "freshness". And I love the link and pin couplers too, the added work, etc... it really drives home what it was like when railroading was still new.

Also, my dad @EdKap2 is crazy... he wants to do link and pin couplers in n scale.

Not going to post a photo as the garage being rebuilt is not that exciting, but I again spent most of my w/e in there re-insulating the walls - which is now complete! Just some plasterboard work to do and then the mudding and painting before I drop the rubber floor mats in and add skirting board.

@shark_jj invited me over to participate in an ops session on his Grand Trunk Southern layout late last week. My first assignment was a local turn to the far side of the subdivision, which required a helper on the return trip over the grade. My second assignment was a manifest freight, which traversed some brilliant scenery and backdrops:



The operating scheme on this layout presents a wide variety of jobs with varying levels of difficulty, all with an interesting mix of rolling stock. All in all it was a great evening, and I am looking forward to participating again in future ops sessions.

Also, I just received the newest test prints of the BiLevel replacement trucks... more on that shortly!

Regarding Nscale linkandpins:
Im not the only one ... Eric White designed and 3D'd the couplers.  I just bought them!!
BUT, i do like the concept of mid 19th century equipment connecting by something other than large MT knuckles...

FP-7 work continues.  Had a mishap on the first pilot I tried, but I think I got this one (it not glued on yet however).



Also got a package from PPD. 



Someday I'll learn that prototype measurements don't always transfer to a model.    I did, however make an error in the drawing when I added material to be undercut at a bend (but that only accounts for about 1/2" of the steps extra length).

Looks like I need to shorten the stirrup by an inch or so just so I know it clears everything on this model and any others that might use this part.
