Trying to remove a slight bow in a roof I had already painted, so I immersed the roof in bestine, and fired up the UC.

The roof had only been painted on one side...

After 20 minutes (I was cleaning another part too) I noticed bubble on the paint ed surface and I could move them about, like there was liquid underneath.

After I pulled the part out, I could easily scrape off the six layers of Tamiya TS-6 I used.

I think it was because of the porous nature of the material and the fact that the inside was not painted?  Either way i was surprised because as has been written, once painte FUD is impossible to strip. Pics later.

@C855B , maybe this could help you strip your models?

John, you didn't mention the type/brand of paint (that can make a big difference).

Shouldn't this be in the Scratchbuilding/Weathering section?

Yes, I had tried this with Scalecoat II and it sort of worked, with a lot of scrubbing. As usual with stripping, getting the gunge out of the fine parts was perilous. I didn't break anything in the trying but knew full well something was going to snap if I kept at it. Your ultrasonic cleaner approach... you know how I love that idea  ... would probably work much better.

I can't recall if I tried it with Tru-Color. Maybe I did. I would not expect it to work because it seems like the the acetone base partly dissolves the resin and the paint almost becomes a dye permeating the surface like a stain.
