Never had any complaints.  :)

Basically there are three modifications to be made; adding the dynamic brake, changing the winterization hatch and giving it a freight pilot.

What road is this unit going to be?

I suspected that you would have fun with that comment.  :D

I'm harvesting the DB fan and the pilot from a Kato F7 single headlight shell that I had started modeling to be a M&StL unit.  The shell is actually yellow not white.  I'm also going to save the low fans for a late F-3 conversion on a different shell. The hole for the DB fan was just carefully filed to size to fit the piece taken off the donor shell.  The winterization hatch is going to be more work than I had hoped.  The hatch that needs to be installed isn't as long as the Kato hatch so the white you see is just some styrene to fill the void which now needs to be shaped to the roof line.  Most of that will be covered by the new hatch which I've drawn and need to have printed.  The pilot area still needs to be filed up to the anti-climber and I haven't yet cut the donor pilot from it's shell.

Jason

Thanks for the details. Looks like my monitor's brightness was to high - I now see that the DB fan is yellow.

C&O SW9 completed today. Bachmann NW2 chassis, LL shell with factory paint, Zimo MX621 decoder, TSC’s. No more “Bachmann buzz”! I’m applying what I’ve learned here on TRW.

That is a gorgeous photo, but looking at the clouds in the backdrop, wouldn't the sun be behind the horizon (on the other side of the loco)?

You are correct sir.   My sky collections images is somewhat limited without “borrowing” someone else’s photo. I attempted to burn the highlights a bit, but not enough.  The sky replacement stuff is something new I’m playing with and not as easy as it looks.  Plus I hit the wall on time spent screwing with it.

I’m looking for more submissions if anyone has them.  I try to put out one n scale image per week to highlight what can be done.  Once I get moving a bit more on the basement layout I’ll have more scenes to work with.

Anyhoo...  glad to be back at it.

Although trying to downsize my engines and freight cars, I couldn't pass up this pair of MicroTrain FTs from an estate sale.

The Reading Company parent temporarily seems to have taken over the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines' Camden engine terminal.

The colors blend so well that I didn't realize lighting direction was off until pointed out.  Its the out of focus tree that distracts me the most.  For such a gorgeous model, module, and lighting, I'd want to see it focus stacked, otherwise blur the background image to match.  :)

Yeah, dats my job. :)

I was lazy that day and didn't use Helicon focus.

And here you go Peteski. A little better? Peer pressure and all...
