I need to figure out how to 'plant' the overpass before I get much further.  Since it crosses two modules, it has to remain removable for transport, but I also want to eliminate 'floating' of any column/support when installed, so I'm looking for something other than gravity to do the job.

Built a 1' x 3' test diorama in HOn3...



I wanted something for photographing models, but also to see if I could do scenery in HO.  The glue is actually still wet here but I think it looks okay.

Here's how I did it. Swab some soil colored paint on all of the bottom of the pilings and press into scenery and it will
leave you paint circles where to drill. BTW awesome scene.

I may be over-picky, but the foundations still attached to the bottom of the second floor and the outside doors also up there give it the look of a building picked up by a tornado and dropped on another. The sections don't mesh well. It's a pretty visible "backdrop" building so you might want to consider this.

I'm sorry you think this looks like building put together by a tornado. I spent quite a few hours on it, so that would be a disappointing result.
For what it's worth, there are no foundations attached to the upper floor, there is ONE outside door upstairs and it leads up to a catwalk that provides access to the roof and mechanical equipment, and the bays, structural columns, and other structural elements on the lower and upper floor line up vertically and laterally. As I already noted, I believe the problem with this building is the oversize window and skylight mullions, and I may yet decide to fix them in the future and maybe add some other details,  but at this point, I happen to like this structure and I'm moving on.

Two more...  Looking for the look of that high-country loneliness that so characterized the RGS.  Yes, there were sheer rock cliffs and tall trestles, but alpine meadows were more typical of the RGS:

Added a 70' arch roof to my Micro-trains baggage car. Still have to add the etched porthole doors for a PRR look.  The etched doors (not shown) are sold separately.

Is it just the angle or do the rain things above the doors look off center?
Also...I don't know if I ever saw a B70 with an arch roof.

I'm curious to see if anyone else has pics of one.

Oy vey, that brings back memories of trying to remove the shells of the very first versions of KATO's F3s. Holy crap! One comment was the Japanese obviously didn't realize Americans like to take their locos apart for no reason. If you had one of those old locos you know what I'm talking about. Ansh'allah. (there, I've used 3 different religion-related expressions)

I know - I own several of them.
They also have latches and you need to use a similar method to get the shell off. IIRC, the side porthole "glass" parts with the latch slots on them were fairly loose fitting which made the process of reassembly tricky. Also IIRC, all 4 latches were "live".  It seems that Kato took a pity on the US modelers and eliminated 2 of those latches on the newer releases.

Put a MT true-scale coupler in the pilot of this MT FT.  I thought it turned out quite nice.

The scale coupler really makes the model look massive!

If I can figure out how to attach the the panels cleanly to the Athearn cars then their SP tri-level would look even cooler. 

Sell the panels as an add-on part, and let us figure it out?

Pilings on modules:  Could you use telescoping pilings?  I've seen some where the lower portion is larger in diameter than the upper portion.  If that would work for you, it wouldn't matter if the distance varied a little, as the piling could be adjusted to fill the gap.

If assembly was accurate enough, the lower portion could be permanently attached to the module, but I doubt that the two modules go together that accurately.

I am pretty sure that all B70s had clerestory roofs.

Got this Dapol Mallard that I bought for my wife last year and finally tested it today and yesterday at the OKC train show. I put a Zimo MX-649 and sound file in it from an English shop called YouChoos out of Wiltshire.
