Finished the latest cover photo for the B&NL Facebook page.  Hope to resume construction progress later this month so I can have more vignettes to shoot.

Awesome pick but your just reminding me how that cool SP autorack never came to market.   :P

Mark what about a process like Archer uses for rivets. Is that sort of thing available to us?  That would create a very line but raised line for your windows.

Craig

Interesting...I think their rivets may be silk screened on to a decal sheet, though perhaps they are ink jetted on.  I could have silk screen art work ( a mask ) made up and then find someone to screen them directly to mylar for me from mixed paints.  May be a viable back up...thx!

I believe the ALPS uses dye sublimation transfer from ribbons and supports contone printing as opposed to half tone screening (ink jets).  This would be easiest as it is "direct to" the mylar from a digital file, would have crisp-edged lines even from a mixed colour, and my friend (Brian Pate) has experience printing window mullions on mylar for his impressive Minto model although he used stock white .

thanks for the ideas!

If I can figure out how to attach the the panels cleanly to the Athearn cars then their SP tri-level would look even cooler.  8)

Salt to kill the slug?

Actually, there is no action occuring in this picture that I can see.
However, it looks like someonerecently spilled a whole container of Morton's salt on their layout, and probably went to get the vacuum.

What I think is the last test unpainted build of the Stillwell kit coming soon (seat/bathroom kit will be sold separately)...

@Lemosteam please let me know when this is available.  Looks awesome!

Oy vey, that brings back memories of trying to remove the shells of the very first versions of KATO's F3s. Holy crap! One comment was the Japanese obviously didn't realize Americans like to take their locos apart for no reason. If you had one of those old locos you know what I'm talking about. Ansh'allah. (there, I've used 3 different religion-related expressions) :D

If you think getting the shell off is a challenge, try to get the cab windows out to custom paint one!

Would love to see those vandal panels on some of my Athearn racks. Awesome picture reminds me of the great modeling of Rich Yourstone. 8)

most of my modeling time this week went towards my daughters' Girl Scouts troop float for the local holiday parade.

Craig:  If you want printed, raised lines, you might contact Tichy Train Group.  Whatever they use to print custom decals produces raised lettering, and can be done in multiple colors, so should work.  The only question is if they can print on Mylar, or whatever you decide to use for windows.

Put a MT true-scale coupler in the pilot of this MT FT.  I thought it turned out quite nice.

I paved the 1st Street crossing this weekend.

I need to figure out how to 'plant' the overpass before I get much further.  Since it crosses two modules, it has to remain removable for transport, but I also want to eliminate 'floating' of any column/support when installed, so I'm looking for something other than gravity to do the job.

Can you mark and drill holes where the pilings are, say the size of the piling, then sand just a hair off the pilings/chamfer them to fit ?  Of course, given the number of pilings, probably a lot of work to get everything aligned correctly

Really dig the curbs, raised median, and signs. As for the bridge, could some some sort of metal and magnets be used?

The columns are hollow; until now I've had their location marked with toothpicks stuck in the foam, that they slide over.  It was a lot of aligning, but doable when everything was flat.
The second part of the issue is that all pilings are identical length, and now that scenery base is on the ground is no longer flat.
