Sounds for layout scenes

Where can I find soundtracks for things like factory areas, downtown streets, flowing rivers-rural, etc? I have some sound modules from Radio Shack so I don't need pre-recorded modules. I recently had several locos sound-installed, and it's really enjoyable how when I power up the layout, not only the lights come on but the diesels start up and idle. Literally the layout comes to life, and now I want my scenes to have sounds. I can try to find these sounds in my hometown, if I have to. For all the pix and videos on the net there's no YouHear website to find this stuff.

Jump on YouTube and type in _____ sounds and 'white noise'.. there are ways to pull audio off YouTube files with firefox browser extensions and get them to MP3 format..

They even have Ghetto City white noise..

Not sure of the capacity of your recording module for how much you can fit..

The next challenge will be repition in your recordings.. listening to the same city sound loop over and over will get old fast..

As fas as transferring... a head jack plug wire where you can connect the 'speaker' of your PC to the 'mic' of the audio module, that would work.. (like copying cassette/vhs tapes) if you can directly load the sound file that would be ideal.

The RS modules have a circuit that uses the speaker as a microphone for input. I could just hold the speaker next to the computer speakers, Thanks.

I think you'll find a Speaker to Mic Transfer will yield poor audio at best.. unless you have a soundproof room, you'll have ambient noise in the recording process.. Your best bet is to have a direct wire connection between the PC and Sound module.

Or a data download of an acceptable sound file.

I'm guessing the data capacity will limit you to ### minutes of sound.. then you will run into a data loop effect..
The module attached does 20 seconds.. so you'll be looping the same 20 seconds of sound over and over like a skipping record.

Not sure if your operating situation -- But if your just running for yourself, you could take a cheap cell phone on WIFI and a blue tooth speaker and play the youtube videos (audio) through the cell phone...

Why not just purchase a small (or large) bluetooth speaker and play the sounds from an old used smartphone via bluetooth?

I think Al wants to have several of these scattered around the layout playing simultaneously (and probably not enough spare smart phones).    And he want them all to start playing automatically when he turns the layout on.

Yes, I have that RS 9v 20 sec loop recording thingie. Looping doesn't matter as I'm looking for factory sounds or street sounds that pretty much sound continuously the same. But still a long way from working on and installing these things -- be nice to first get the towns/factories completed with finished buildings.
