I stumbled across this photo of mine being used to sell vacations that had nothing to do with the area it was taken in!...Maybe I should get a free one?!

That looks like Crawford Notch.  Where was the vacation?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Indeed it is Crawford Notch. It has been a couple years since I saw the ad, but I think the vacations were for the Adirondacks.

One would think. Searches lead one to believe he's a modeler in Sydney.

He is and has made lots of appearances on Model Rail Radio. Quite frankly, his arrival there and his know it all attitude put me off to listening to that podcast a whole lot, especially after he put down HCDs as something no one should ever build,

We don't even have to call @GaryHinshaw "Prof".

It's like asking to be called Maestro.

My official title is "Master Modeler", given to me at the TamiyaCon 2005, but I don't require anybody to address me that way.  :D

Years ago I found a picture of our very own 3rdrail in a youtube ad advertising one of those "turn yourself into a zombie" apps.  This was shortly after he passed if I remember right.

Yes I remember that.  It was very upsetting for us here and IIRC one of the admins/moderators sent them a nasty email.

I'm guessing that it wasn't that clean for long?

It was fresh out of being refurbished by Reichard industries:

They have a plant in Niles OH in a old building that used to build freight cars.

I'm surprised there's such a thing as "TamiyaCon". Did you have to go in costume?

he has to dress up like the kit box from a 1:72 scale kit of the 1970's.

I was reading the current (Nov 2017) issue of Model Railroad Hobbyist and on page 18 were photos I took of freight car trucks for the N scale truck directory that eventually made it to Mark's page:
http://spookshow.net/trucks/trucks.php

But the photos were attributed to a Prof. Klyzlr. Pretty sure that's NOT my name.

I contributed a few pics to Mark's site, but I don't care if they get re-used.

No, you don't need to wear a costume, but bringing and entering a well-build Tamiya-brand model kit helped to blend in with the crowd.  :D
Here is some info: https://www.tamiyausa.com/articles/what-is-tamiya-con--183?article-id=183
Unfortunately the gathering is not longer taking place. Probably due to the declining model sales and the fact that the Tamiya US headquarters was downsized.  But the all-expenses-paid trip to Japan is something I'll never forget.
The TamiyaCON 2005 page is here.
