Changed plans…..although I found a way to quickly add the strapping, it turns out I’d need 3-dozen bundles to adequately fill the lumber shed. I don’t have enough wood for this. So instead of having the track-side of the shed open for loading from the yard I closed the back of the shed as in the photo.  About 10 bundles will be enough to add detail to the yard…..

Adding scenery and ballast as far as the eye can see. I added lighting on the other side. That takes away the darkened tunnel look…

Oh ok, they look fantastic. You did an excellent job with them.. I want to also Use photos. I bought a Drone just for that purpose.

I've spent a lot of time on backdrop images lately, including two days spent seeking out source material. It's time well spent, but time that can ONLY be spent at the right time of the year.

I've seen awesome backdrop photos of layouts on TRW and elsewhere. Some are difficult to even tell it's a photo.

if you're looking for great layout photos then a great backdrop can make or break your photo.  In my case I'm just trying to eliminate the distraction as they eye is drawn to the train room wall instead of the scene before me. So I barely notice the pieced together photos. If the train isn't passing thru the scene my attention is elsewhere. If the train is passing thru, I'm watching the train and the backdrop is behind building and trees in most places. Foreground scenery and details to draw the eye are the key. It's like a 2-dimensional  table and lamp painted on the wall as scenery for a play. When the actors are on stage you barely notice they're painted on but your minds eye registers "table and lamp"....

When switching here, I don't even notice the toilet paper roll in the photo. I keep forgetting it's there. I need to come up with something to transition from the end of (the only LARC) backdrop ...

What paper and printer are you using? Also.. The Drone can give the height you might need for the desired look..

Ok, is inkjet preferred over lazer (I have inkjet)? also is there a good tip for getting a photo to print in series with no border? I  have a Pano shot or two I would like to print out of my 8x11 printer at home. However I am kinda dumb about all of this. I found a way to print without a boarder, but not in series yet.

For images Inkjet is preferred, but be aware it burns through ink quick in that role.

So I went inkjet because the laser equivalent likely added a 0 to the price.

As for ink, well, I absolutely benefit from the fact that my skies are gray.

But also, the ink replacement cost on this thing isn't out of line with ink costs for other inkjets. I was pleasantly surprised by that.

As for printing without a border, I never figured that out before this thing, but I DID realize that Adobe Indesign allowed me to do print across multiple sheets with a specified amount of overlap (so each page had about 1/2" of overlap at the edges, but I could control that amount). That allowed me to cut one sheet (it also provided crop marks in the margin) and then paste it on top of the next for seamlessness.

It worked, but looked better in photos than in person.
