Duuuude!  I love the metal roof.  I'm going to probably use this effect on structure(s) on my layout.  How did you glue the aluminum foil on and how did you get it so smooth with no wrinkles?

Nice job!

I lightly sprayed the shiny side with adhesive, placed it on the roof dull side up, folded it over both sides. I used my finger to rub the foil and shape it around the ribs. then I used a small paint brush to work the foil into the corners at the rib/roof connection, carefully not to overdue it and tear the foil. use the brush or finger to smooth any creases or wrinkles...

it will only be as smooth as the styrene under it. First, I rubbed/scrubbed the roof with fine steel wool to clean up the glue smears....

I HATE THIS... but not in a bad way... it’s fantastic!!! Let me try to explain... I’m sure this was not easy to do in HO. However, I now need to figure out how to do this in N-scale because it looks terrific, and my OCD will drive me nuts until I figure out how to pull it off, with the styrene strips being smaller & thinner. 🤔

I did something similar in N scale, a much smaller roof tho. Go to my old thread “The L&N Somewhere in Eastern Kentucky” I just pinged it to get it on the lead page. Go to page 17 in that thread.....

But you misunderstand... I’ll have to model a standing seam roof in N-scale... with tiny folded & crimped seams.

Argggggggh!!!

The appearance of the Kadee coupler trip pins always bothered me...representative of air hoses, but oversized and unrealistically attached to the coupler itself. I removed some, but nothing at all there was also a distraction whenever the space between cars caught my eye. I considered the working magnetic air hoses from North American Rail Car, but I considered at $4 per car a bit too expensive. so I came up with this:
