Great find, John. Now we need to find a source of multiple colors in #36 magnet wire for stuffing down signal poles.
Thanks for the info John. And I thought that the prices DC manufacturers charge for few feet of wire were outrageous. That eBay seller's prices are out of this world! $11 for 20 inches! Are you fu#@*n serious!?!? I also realize that the prices are due to this wire being sold for turntables (not the RR type, but vinyl record players). The latest audio Hi-Fi "thing".Hmm. I am sometimes questioning specs of the wire sold by the DCC manufacturers. I think that sometimes a 30AWG stranded wire is sold by them as 36AWG wire. I have wire from TCS, Digitrax, ESU, Brawa and I think couple of others. Some wire is identified as 36 while others as 30 AWG. I have not tried to measure the wire diameter because it is difficult to do with stranded wire. How do you keep the strands in a proper shape for measuring? Twist and tin maybe? But won't the twisting and tinning affect the diameter?
Pete, you realize I wrote twenty FEET right? So this is less than $1 per foot. That is an outstanding price compared to TCS for 36awg insulated wire. TCS wants $41 for the same length this seller wants.
ESU sells 36 AWG wire, carried by a number of retailers, including Streamlined Backshop and MBK. Comes in 10m packages, in White, Purple, Black, Red, Orange, Green, Grey Yellow, Brown and Blue.
I have a dual roll of red and green that is 38awg from Ngineering I think. A run under a permanent marker could change the color quickly to black, or maybe brown..
At SBS, $4.74 per 10m coil http://store.sbs4dcc.com/esu-electronicsolutionsulm-14.aspxAt MBK $3.79 per 10m coil http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/DCC-Accessories-s/2421.htm?searching=Y&sort=3&cat=2421&show=30&page=1&brand=ESU
