There was a semi tractor and trailer on a post along I-29 north of Kansas City years ago, advertising a truck stop.  So why not on the roof of a warehouse?

No weirder than this:

Not my picture, but this is in our town. Laundromat has moved elsewhere and building is derelict now, so it's just a matter of time before it's gone.

Seems like a good location for a flight school.

Mike:  OK...was that an advertising gimmick, or did someone simply have an odd sense of humor?

Allen:  That's the one.  Easy to remember from the name, although I never tried to find out if it was a pun on the actress, or just accidental.  In the 80s and early 90s we went through there several times, on trips from Kentucky to Washington state.  Then we found that it was faster, and easier, to go through Iowa.

Is that a semi on the roof of the warehouse?

Looks familiar...

Here it is with its intended load - an older model Caterpillar dozer:

There you have it - an N Scale model of one of the British Columbia Railway's unique Cat Tool Cars.  Here is the prototype in later years with a newer Cat dozer on board:

Tim, is the GHQ model CAT too New?  For your time frame?

Otherwise, Fantastic Work !!!  :D

Ron's work on the TP70 this week has had me drooling, and also sent me back to 'start' on the mechanism.   But it also got me motivated, even if not on my own critter.

The actual visibility of a lot of the extra detail work he did was impressive.   Got me thinking that at least one of my primary first-line road units never really got finished to the same level of everything else, and I should probably go back and review it again.    So, trusty Kato SD45 5616 got it's third going over this week.

- Drilled out cab window, trimmed square and put in an engineer torso
- windshield wipers, mirrors
- Full etched MU and brake hose set on the pilot
- grabs and rails on the pilot
- etched brass cut levers
- Replaced stock MT coupler with Z 903.
- retouched all paint again

So thanks Ron, got me moving on this one....   No control stand though!

If you are referring to the "1974 Bulldozer", that model is far too large to ride on my car.  The Cat Tool cars were stencilled "D5D6 ONLY".

I like that bulldozer flat , cool looking addition to MOW . I see the real one has a chocks to stop unwanted flattening of the chain and such shed behind it , are you going to add that detail ?

Nothing earth-shattering, but I finally finished gradually working my way through my fleet of 1970s-era rolling stock to check things like trip pin height and if the cars will tolerate some of the really tight radius curves on the Philly waterfront. Now that I have stuff that will operate reliably, I'm looking at whipping up some temporary structures so I can do something resembling operating on the layout while I work on other stuff.

Worked on the O scale layout today.  Positioned more rock work to allow Ken to fill and cover with plaster material.  Also planted more trees above the tunnel and cut.  Hoping to get this all painted, bushes and ballast work done by open house weekend .

I fixed most of the broken photo links in my layout thread this afternoon, so now my thread makes sense and is worth reading again.  Ugh.  Stupid Photobucket.

More on the Seaboard Central 3.0 thread in the Layout Engineering forum.
