Pictures from 2017 N-Scale Weekend, Altoona, PA

I finally was able to reviewed the photos and culled them down to 539 photos from this past weekend's N-Scale Weekend in Altoona, PA.  I had to run to the office to get a faster broadband but even then it took over an hour to upload.  The pictures took 3.25 GB!

What a weekend it was!  Lots of layouts, lots of trains, lots of running, lots of friends, lots of deals (FVM was there selling their heritage units for $75 each) and that pig roast!

Thanks to Mike Phillips (nscaleweekend) for putting on a well run and organized event.  I even got a door prize (FireFly FRED and met the inventor himself)!  A side trip to the Railroaders Museum and Horseshoe Curve really topped it off.

I have grouped the photos by the following "Themes".  Once you get to my website, if you click on the photo once it is displayed full screen you get an even bigger size (super full screen?) for easier viewing.

Railroaders Museum and Horseshoe Curve (164 photos)

Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

My wife says I have too many hobbies and I often have a dilemma when I take my camera to MRR events or Radio Control airplane events (I fly airplanes and helicopters) as all three have equal importance!

Did you get a shot of your Thomas, Annie, and ClaraBelle running on our layout?

Which layout is that?  I don't think I did as when I run I usually don't take photos of my own stuff.  The picture of Thomas on randgust's Hickory Bridge was static and not running.  Plus nobody was behind me.  :)  I'm always concerned that when I stop for a photo the guys behind me would be rolling their eyes.

I tried to run Thomas on one layout and I was chastised as being non-prototypical so I left.

Mike

Thanks for posting a great group of pics. I wish I could have made it. I made 5 of the shows when it was at Bedford because my job had me working the Hagerstown-Baltimore area. They have me in Texas presently, but only a matter of time and I will be back east again. Actually, I was going to be there last year, was really looking forward to the first show in Altoona, but I got confused about the date and didn't find out until late Sunday morning. An age-old, old-age thing I guess. I was at Frederick MD, and it was too late to even make an attempt. Broken hearted and a heartfelt apology to Mike Phillips the next day.

Which layout Mike?  Hopefully not "ours"!   I love watching Thomas run.

Ryan and his son usually run Thomas and James on the BANTRAK layout. It's always fun to watch those little guys go around.

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Isn't part of the purpose of those layouts to expose and attract new modelers, and especially children, to this hobby?  Sheesh.  I bet many children would love seeing Thomas running.  It's not like they were holding ops sessions during N-Scale Weekend.  "Lighten up, Francis!"
