I will probably go with Reading 2719 because 2716 was repainted into the Reading Green scheme in 1972.  I also found this photo of 2719 from 1983, and I can add this locomotive to the other 5 locomotives that I would like to add patch jobs to someday.

If they are same Mechanism as 1500, digitrax and tcs make decoders that replace the stock pc boards.  Run wires from motor leads to decoders, isolate and it's ready to roll

But, if they aren't DCC ready, I'm out; I already have so many old technology locos on my bench, and don't *need* another project. (I do wish ATLAS would do their S2's in the ATSF "zebra scheme", even the simplified one.)

I've converted one - twice (see my previous comment on the Digitrax 126 series and DC behavior in another thread).  The only hard part was getting the shell on and off without screwing up the contact strips.

This excites me. I'm impressed that Walthers is correctly releasing the only two numbers IHB had. And I love the EJE units.  I will be picking up all four. I will also pick up a few other iHB's to renumber to represent SW900's.  I have about 6 older LL's that I can now retire as I've never converted them to DCC anyway.

Joe, does what you stated imply that there were no behind-the-scenes contact between Walthers and MTL to  produce another batch of the mechanisms?  They simply decided to revive this model on their own?  If that is the case, you better get in touch with them and ask to produce lots of extra mechanisms for MTL.
