From an old Atlas forum post:

I'd say the easiest spotting difference between the two is in the DB housing and the air filter box

I figured they would reuse some design work, but they went a bit further than I anticipated.....

Plus there are add ons, like LED for control panel, etc.  I think one turnout might cost closer to double that.  Glad I went manual slide switches.  Of course, also glad I bought my rolling stock fleet when prices were under $20-$25 MSRP per car.  Just another old guy ranting about cost...... :scared:

Model Railroader has their report up

http://mrr.trains.com/news-reviews/new-products/2017/08/2017-national-train-show-report

Bachmann... $33 MSRP for an ore car? Reaching new heights of ridiculousness, we are. Street price under $10 or forget it.

Nice to see ScaleTrains.com release the turbine tenders separately in early excursion trim. I have the Kato tenders, but they're late (current) versions, and there are important distinctions if your (my!) objective is to run the FEF as 8444.

China.

Now, DM&IR paint:

Not really. Arrow (late) or circular herald scheme (early Atlas)?

Bingo. Heaven knows what motivates them sometimes. :|

Has anyone politely asked Kato about possible future roadnames on the FP7?
Tom D.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

----> :ashat: <----

Bachmann is Bachmann is Bachmann etc  :trollface:

The one that irks me is the queen of sitting on tooling (WKW) - they have relocated* the following tooling to a sealed time capsule in old salt mine in Kansas:

EMD BL2
EMD GP18
EMD E7 A&B
EMD E6
EMD SW9/1200
EMD SW8/900/600
Alco FA1 A&B
Alco FA2 A&B
Alco PA1 A&B
Alco RS2
Alco C424 Ph 2
FM C-Liner A&B
Lima 2-8-4 (NKP version)
USRA 0-8-0
USRA  2-8-8-2 (N&W Y3)
Passenger Cars  (All)

* pure conjecture  :P

I am "sure" that they have plans to re-run these at some point. I am skeptical though since every time I ask about a specific one the response is "we have no plans at this time".

On the positive side, I really like the N scale structures. 8) <--- (I am serious about this)
