Does that statement imply that it has been done in brass?
If so, that would eliminate certain possibilities (and make others more likely).

So far only U30B and U33B have been mentioned and fit that bill.

Precisely. Hallmark produced a number of U-Boats in brass, although I'm holding hope for a GP30B (...not!...), which, incidentally, also meets that criterion. :D

You guys are all barking up the wrong tree.

In N scale these days manufacturers only bring out new tooling for locomotives that are already offered by other manufacturers.

That snarky remark got you an up-vote from me.  8)

Meh! Origami modern crap. C636! C636! C636! (Second option... AS616! AS616! AS616!)

If they announced a C636 I would probably leave the hobby or something... after all of the time stuff that I've put into the resin version that I'm working on.

"It's a new body that has never been done in N scale plastic."  That does imply it has been done in N scale brass, or maybe they are doing a plastic shell, motorized version of a High Speed paperweight. I really should not pay any attention to any locomotive announcements for the next 2 years while I get a layout put together.  I don't have enough shelf space for the ones I already have.

636 makes some sense, as it is close to the 630 tooling and would be cheaper, presumably to make.

A friend guesses another F unit, for what that is worth.

I would be happy with a U33B if offered.  Would like an Alco C424 more, though.....

You're right! I think the two models that are really needed in N scale right now are the GG1 and the F7. They're both underserved prototypes. Either one has the potential to really move things along.

If they do the U Boat, wonder if they will do some alternate tooling and get those iconic B units from BN?

You know the rule...if you really want one, you have to finish your kitbash before a manufacturer will produce them.

"the two models that are really needed in N scale right now are the GG1 and the F7"  Well, since we know it is a diesel, I am going to figure a CNW F7 with the engineer's controls reversed for left hand running.  No one has produced a cab with the controls revered before, at least not in plastic.

Maybe they will fool all of us, and tool up a calf unit for one of the switchers. THERE is something we don't have in N that we could really use.

What? And screw-up the need for my long-lingering kitbash of a TR5 out of a Life-Like SW1200 and an old Atlas TR5 calf? Fie on you, fie, I say. :D

(Calfs were never done in N brass, to my knowledge. Just that "SW1500" cow-calf that lives forever, from the 1971 Atlas/Rivarossi tooling.)

Let's say I'm a bit sensitive to this issue. I was more or less put on notice last weekend that ScaleTrains.com is mulling a DD35, although that rumor was propagated by an HO'er, shame on him. Considering that I have a fistful of Bachmann DDA40Xs explicitly purchased for a fleet of DD35s using a Shapeways shell, it would be my luck to finish the project only to have a commercial version blow mine out of the water.

We live in heady times. I'm looking forward to Atlas' announcement, whatever it is, whether it's useful to me or not!

Alco C 415, though limited in roads would be a very nice addition to most anyones fleet.  I understand we have one from Bowser in HO on the way, they will get a big chunk of my credit card when that happens.
