And all with the same number ....

Marc
Same number is not a problem, since they have it priced so no one can afford more than one.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

With the large amount of northeast and ATSF modelers on here, I'm really surprised by the "meh" on the GP39-2.

No, no,no!  They haven't used Rapidos for a while now. All they new models now come equipped with the lovely "boxing glove" knuckle coupler.  The bigger it is the better it couples. :)

Somebody needs to let the graphics designwe at Bachmann know..

Definitely a "YAY!" from me on the GP39-2s, especially if they release Portland & Western schemes like they did in HO (oh and I'll be in for Santa Fe as well).

Next question is, do I bring forward my plans to kitbash one of the later phase BN units to ensure they also produce that phase in N scale like they have in HO?

I also see MR is reporting that Atlas will be adding 45' containers to their line, pretty sure that's new & they haven't done these before?  It's nice to have a manufacturer stepping in to the gap created by the disappearance of Deluxe Innovations (and I'm aware that Con-Cor also have 45 footers in their line but their approach to choosing of paint schemes has always seemed odd to me - I reckon Atlas will do better)

It is nice to see that Atlas is bringing the GP39-2 to N Scale!  I hope that the DH units are the Lightning Stripe paint scheme for this first release, and the Reading units would make a nice project to have them stenciled for DH or CSX as some units retained the Reading green up till the early 1990s.

The roadnames mentioned in the MR press release are all roads with phase 1 units- could Atlas be planning a twofer where they announce both phase 1 and 2 GP39-2's?

What I want to know is this model going to have the correct size fuel tank or the same, oversized fuel tank that plagues every Atlas GP38 model to date. I mean, if Atlas isn't going to deliver a model with the correct sized fuel tank, then maybe change the artwork to reflect that?? :|

Not every GP38 has the smaller fuel tank, the BN units all had the larger tanks. So the tank is correct for BN units and Frisco ones. The ones BN purchased that were returned by Conrail need the short tanks, which is unfortunate being Atlas has only done those units.

That unit looks to be a Phase II, which is great for me, however when I asked on the Atlas facebook page, they said it will be a Phase I unit. Or they just going to paint Phase II units as Phase I being the loco is part of the Trainman line.

Estimated delivery for the NE-5 was supposed to be during the 2nd Quarter of 2017.
Any updates as to when it might actually ship?

Me too!...Maybe at least one in lightning strips, if it does come in the correct Phase. To get the older phase GP39-2 a GP38 could probably provide the parts, I'm thinking just splice the rear end on..

..

Yes, not all GP38 and 38-2s had the smaller fuel tank, but most did!..Some had even smaller than 2000 gal. as well, Milwaukee Road I believe...
