I spy a pine tree downside up at the start of this page.

The modules are bolted together with the topsides facing each other to protect track and scenery during transport.  Every once in a while we get a tree that migrates to the other module like this.  It's become a fun little easter-egg.

BTW I can only hope the A&Ps take as much attention to detail as you have taken with this project.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am a bit of a nitpicker and rivet counter when I build a model. That comes from my years as a plastic model builder, it has to look right to my eyes. This is not a run of the mill model and will be noticed on the layout and I would prefer it not be noticed for the wrong reasons.

Well, darn, thought I would try something new. I just received my new MT metal wheels and thought these cars would be a good place to try them out. But the cars have 36" wheels, not 33" wheels. Looks like it will be Fox Valley wheels again.

You may want to check which wheel is correct.

All four cars in my set came with 33" wheels.

Thanks guys, this time I used my calipers rather than my old eyes. The wheels looked like 36" wheels but when I measured them they were indeed 33", though the plastic wheels were just tic larger than the metal wheels they definitely were not 36". So the new metal MT's have been installed.

Some of my fellow club members are using Z couplers on all their N equipment along with body mounting everything and they have started replacing those couplers with the True Scale couplers. They have found with just a little trimming that the Z coupler and the True Scale coupler will work together.

Not yet.  And I've since gone back to the original N Scale couplers.

I need to sit-down and fully read the TSC thread(s) here.  I know @wcfn100 and others have shared some great feedback on the couplers, and sounds like MT is taking it seriously too; so I've decided to wait and see what we get with the next iteration.

Flat cars with a prototypical deck height are certainly the biggest challenge with using the TSC.  Before what ended up being a long summer break from trains and Joe saying they were working on some new ideas for the TSC, I was pretty heavy into different flat car designs.  I have one sitting on my desk right now for the Athearn 89F and associated autoracks.  I also have one prototyped for the TWX 85'.

Are the brushguards aluminum or steel? If they are steel being able to put a tinge of rust along the edges would improve the appearance some and take away the brand new look to them.

Even if they are rust-free, thy can still be weathered.

Down to 34.  And this is with a limit of 2 per customer.

So uh..  if anyone was not interested but is feeling helpful, care to order a few sets anyway; then I'll buy them off you??   8) 8)

Maybe better luck with a family member purchase a couple? I think these will be sold out tomorrow.
