I finally got around to inventorying the track I have and the track I got from DKS last week.  I'm placing an order tonight for the balance of the track that we need.  Included in that order will be some Woodland Scenics foam inclines and risers to build an even grade.  I'm estimating that the 4% grade should provide enough clearance in the center loop.

Will do.  Hopefully, I'll have the track in hand by the middle of next week.

Aly: "Ta-da!"

The balance of the track was delivered today, so we moved the layout into the playroom where we could see better and spread out.  Aly and I spent some time figuring out the pieces, and we roughed out the track plan.  I will need to clip the corner of the roadbed of two pieces of track where they meet the turnouts, and then we will start laying out the grades.  I bought Woodland Scenics foam inclines to support the track on the grades.

Haha!  It certainly looks that way in the photo.  But, her layout will go back under mine when we get trains running.  It will have to, because it will share the DCC system with my layout.

She looks to  be one happy girl!  Hey, is that an old-fashion TV in the background with an actual CRT picture tube?  I thought I was the last person on earth who still owned and used CRT-based TV sets!  :D

I'm also curious about what her visiting friends think of her "toy"?

Ya gotta love it. She looks really happy and that's the way kids should always be.

My son and and daughter in law are moving so they have most of their stuff put away but they told my grand daughter, Tess, she could get one toy at a time out to play with. Last Christmas, I got her an elaborate set with various train tracks and locos and cars she has always loved.

They didn't really want to get all that out so my son asked her to pick another toy. She said, "Well, grandpa always has trains in the basement he lets me run." And I do and she's really good at it. She said she likes to run them slow. She's 2 1/2.

Dave, that photo is priceless. If she were my daughter, I'd frame it and put it on my desk.

We inherited that TV when we bought the house, because the previous homeowners couldn't move it or the monster metal cabinet that it sits upon.  Since I also don't want to attempt moving that beast, and it still works, there it still sits!

Her friends haven't seen the layout yet, but I'll report back as that happens.

Thanks,
DFF

That's awesome that your granddaughter likes to run trains and demonstrates control.  My daughter also likes to run the train slow.   I've actually told her at times that it's okay if she wants to run it a little faster.
