GALLERY UPLOAD LIMIT EXCEEDED!
« on: July 11, 2017, 04:44:11 AM »
@tom mann

Here I am trying to fix my posts affected by the Photobucket disaster and I hit the following limit:

You have exceeded your maximum upload per day. Upload limit per day is 15  :RUEffinKiddingMe:

We can't catch a break!  I guess I'll upload another measly 15 photos tomorrow, then the next day, then the next day . . .

I can't believe you found this functionality so fast.

I changed the daily limit to 150.  Note that the bbc code for the medium image is resized to 1024 and therefore perfect for insertion into a post.

Thanks!  15 photos is  not all that much.  :) Just my SW1 technical review has couple dozen of images.  As far as resizing goes, I'm probably one of the most frugal users. 99.9% of the photos I upload are already sized to 800 pixels wide (with few over that, but usually not over 1024 pixels wide. I also noticed that you are now tagging all the gallery  photos with TRW URL.

Looks like there is a batch upload option, but unfortunately for me it  is not enabled.

Fixed. You should be able to drag and drop files into the UI now.

@peteski- Tom also changed another small bit of functionality hidden on the website. Let's see how long it takes you to find it.

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

I asked on another thread, but I didn't get a response.  How does one resize their photos uploaded to the Gallery?  When I upload the photos I took from my Photobucket account, they are coming in smaller and measured in kBs (e.g., 768 x 1024 pixels), but when I upload a photo taken on that same smartphone's camera, those pics are measured in MBs (e.g., 2448 x 3264 pixels).  I have long manually resized my photos to 600 pixels by 800 pixels in the [img] code when posting from Photobucket.  I'd love to be able to do this automatically.

DFF, any graphic (bitmap) editing app can resize (or resample) photos. I use Corel PhotoPaint since it came with my Corel Draw suite of apps. Also, if you google for a free image or photo resizer, you'll find oodles of them (both online and downloadable). If you want to do it in batches, you can find a batch image resizer too.

Josh, now you got me curious.  :)

Nice - thanks!
But, this brings up another question: the names of uploaded files are not anything like the original name. They are made up of the user ID, date and I think a sequence number. Is there anyway to many add the original filename to that string?  That woudl make it easier to identify them.

@davefoxx and @peteski : The new gallery will automatically resize your images to 1280 pixels wide.  Give it a shot and let me know if that works for you.

as for upload renaming, stand by.

Just no way to control hotlinking. I'm not sure it's the best solution?

I believe that is a success.  Thanks!

I have no problem with the watermark. Small price to pay for you doing the free hosting. And it is not like it is messing up my original photos (on my hard drive) - just the small copies posted to TRW.

Thanks for all the work you are doing here, and for looking into modifying the name scheme.
