Carter:  I finally found the proper keywords, and turned up a very few links for >Kenworth K100 VIT introduced<.  Apparently the flat-top VIT sleeper was available in 1973, as several pictures of 1973 trucks for sale included the VIT cab/sleeper design.  So it looks like I can use them after all!

One site, on a forum, said that the VIT was "available for a few years before being formally introduced", so that might be the source of the confusion.  Maybe they changed the design, then, when the Aerodyne design came out, gave the lengthened sleeper a formal name?

These look nice. Waiting for the grain trailers and lesser extent the bulk trailers. Hoping a contemporary petroleum/oil/gas trailer is in the future pipeline...

Would this trailer work for you?  https://www.google.com/maps/@38.7408224,-108.075025,3a,75y,278.55h,86.6t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1skqVBGrJMBF2NYHQFVB08NA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Pat has the tooling for it completed.

I'll admit I'm not a truck expert but I want something that will look good in a 1990's setting so I would say that would suffice. I didn't know that was already coming; I've seen the grain trailer samples. But that's great.

Oh crap, I was let you guys go at it because I thought these were out of my era. And now they're in. How will I tell the wife the new kitchen is off?

A saving grace might be the street price, which given previous releases history, should be in the upper $20 range.

Personally, I like the upper teen range like the FedEx and UPS tractors.

My reference book (Kenworth - The First 75 Years) simply says that the Aerodyne sleeper was introduced in 1976 on the VIT 200.  So, it looks like any of the other trucks (without the Aerodyne sleeper) would be good for the early 1970s.

Pat had this pre-production sample of the 40-ft bulk trailer on display at the National N Scale Convention in Sacramento in 2015.

Unfortunately, I did not get a good picture of it.  I was so overwhelmed by all the pre-production samples of the trucks on display, I did not pay that much attention to the various trailers.

And, I saw a lot of trailers like the Trainworx model in Wyoming last month, and it did not look like they were hauling milk.   :D

I just got a pre-order notice from my LHS that they are taking reservations for the new run of tractors.  Their pre-order price is $29.95 each.  No deposit required.

BLW now has the latest release posted, $27.95 street price.

In regards to price, below the K100/W900 was a picture for the Peterbilt trucks.  They had retail of $25.95 and street price of $18.95.

I am sure the paint schemes will be contributing to the cost.  With the cabs molded in clear styrene, there will be very little margin for error when it comes to painting and pad printing these models.

That is my one "complaint" about these, as well as one of the main reasons they look so good.  It's almost impossible to repaint one!

Any talk of doing prototype tractors to match the trailers they've already done ?

Probably not, since most of their trailers have been RR-owned TOFC trailers.  Anybody modeling the right era can use one of the trailers, but the tractors probably never got far from their home terminals.  Thus, there would be a very limited market for them.

For example, I model the BN in Montana.  I have three TW Southern Ry trailers, but what are the odds of a Southern tractor being seen in Montana?  Or, for that matter, a BN tractor in Atlanta?

Yellow and Roadway would have matching tractors for them.

For some reason I thought more trailers were announced at some point, but I'm thinking of something else.

I'm sure there were many other examples of tractors with matching trailers. One of the contemporary ones I often see on the highway is Conway. Often they run tandem trailers.

Then there are also moving companies like Allied or Mayflower.
