Dumb Idea time! Tyco Turbo train

With a Rapido announcing the Turbos, I was looking for information and history,  I ran across a blast from the past:

So this got me thinking, With the Kato 2 axle shorty B chassis, and it's simple overall shape, it might be fun to give it a shot in N scale. I know their is no prototype at all, But it might be fun. Another idea might be to 3d print the shells.

I'm thinking more than one coach though, something more like 3 or 4.

This may be something I pick up once I get a few other project off my plate. I have never done 3d printing, this might be a good project to start with.....

Articulated light rail train, maybe?  It doesn't look any stranger than most of the ones being built today.

Wasn't that strictly a fantasy train (not a model of a real train)?

It reminds me of another model of a fantasy hover-car: AMT Amtronic.

Don't forget that the Tyco Turbo could do loops and climb walls!

I never had one , so I don't know how they managed the wall climbing trick.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

They had magnets that held them to the steel track. Plastic wheels with rubber tires and some sprung contacts that drew power directly from the track to the motor. Slot car motor.

@peteski MAGNARAIL!

Yeah Baby!
And IIRC, you actually worked on something like that already, and in N scales.  Was it here or on the A-board?

That was the A-board, I don't remember who it was, but they embedded a metal rod just below the ties between the rails, and scratch built a little steamer with some rare earth magnets on the underside.

Lol, I love it. Reminds me of the Thrommer.
I wondered how long it would be before someone mentioned that train wreck.

I'm pretty sure that it was @Lemosteam himself!

Aye! Three log cars on a 10% grade for a tiny two axle loco.

Was the TYCO train based on the TV show Supertrain?

I remember watching that show back in 1979, kind of a Love Boat on rails type show.
