Bestine vs ZipLoc screw top container bad

Ok I am late to the party but I would have thought this would have crossed my eyes a some point . I wanted to soak Chris's Crew Speeder over night in some Bestine . This morning I tried to unscrew the ZipLoc container , aprox 3 inches high and 4 inches in diameter and found out the lid was glued shut . I had to pry the rim up all around to break the seal and finally got it unscrewed . So what do smarter than I modelers use ? I don't want to contaminate the source can with already used stuff .

Used glass jar of some type with a metal screw lid.

Glass jar. I get mine from the Container Store so I have a variety of sizes, but a mason jar works well.

I went out and purchased a few glass jars of baby food for the purpose.

Old glass olive jar.   Tall and thin, so it keep liquid around rolling stock.    Bonus - I had to make a lot of martinis to empty the jar

I use new metal paint cans. Bought at Home Depot.

Yes - glass olive jar. Petroleum esters and plastics don't mix. I'm surprised you didn't wake up to a blob of goo with a crunchy model center.

Bestine is no longer available so this isn't a problem for me (wish it was)...

One of my son's empty jelly jars.These are glass with  screw on metal lids.Oh they also have a handle as part of the jar.

Why no more Bestine ? I read that some people use 90% , or some green stuff up north . Also the soak time is no longer over night , but just minutes to hours . I also read that Shapeways is to come out with paint ready results .

The company ("Best Test") discontinued operations last year. I think the mom'n'pop wanted to retire.

The good news is that Speedball (of calligrapher's fame) picked-up the line and, per their web page is slated to reintroduce distribution this month.

I ordered a can of Doc Edington's Thinner/Adhesive-Removeer today, going to see if that works as an alternate.

I haven't bought a glass jar yet. I keep mine in a microwavable small dish tub with a lid. Never melted. I put it back in the original container when done.

One of those really-tiny glass jars used for crushed garlic.    Only problem was it appears to have ruined the seal.   I pour it back in the metal can when I am done.   

Not much left, looking for alternatives.
