OK Jason showed me how to resize the Sketchup model. I bulked up a few areas got rid of the hand rail holes and added 3D handrails. Also made it .100" longer and .100" wider. No red spots on the heat map, but this is still small!

Thank you Chris and Jason . Being that I haven't heard from them that it is actual production I assume mine will have these updated specs ? Thanks again . For those not wanting to try and power it , it will make a fine static model , like all the rest of our MOW wee bits . Just add some Z scale wheels that have been widened to N gauge via tube or re-axleded .

I'm curious as to why you replaced the handrail holes with simulated handrail ridges.   Seems like a step backwards.  If it's because Shapeways won't print the hole, can you make a dimple instead to guide a drill?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Shapeways won't replace the first one with this, but hopefully the first one won't pass and they reject it. Still both are very small models with thin areas, but Shapeways has surprised me in the past.

On the N scale model the posts where the hand rails go are only 0.0272" wide. That is just twice the width of a #80 (0.0135") drill bit. I can put the holes back, but first maybe someone will show feedback on how the actual print looks.

Side note: There is no mark up on the N scale speeder, I make no profit. Maybe once it is a proven design...

Thanks Rodney.  It's too hot to ride motorcycles so it's time for trains!

That is printed paper that comes with the kit.  It is cut into 3' 6" x 13' panels.  After applying to roof, I added the brown with a paint brush and drug it down the roof with brush or my thumb, or a mixture of both.  They come with the kit, but can be purchased separately from RS Lasers

I deleted the first model you ordered from Shapeways so maybe they won't even try to print it. Plus it is Sunday. I'd just wait to see what they do.
