While you could print the whole tank in brass, the casting is hollow and I made a lead weight that filled it.   
So a brass casting might only break even since brass is lighter than lead.

By the way, could you post the web url  and price for where you were getting the brass frame weight cast. 
I was thinking about buying one. 

And yes.  That bright orange/red would look good with a silver truck.

No.  I don’t think so.  I contacted him recently.  He’s not doing train projects right now. 
He might be open to having that file added to his TP56 options for his Shapeways store.

If you are open to that, the way to get him is by going to his shapeways store and using the link to contact the seller.

There are others here who have Shapeways presence.  John LeMerise with his Keystone Details shop. Maybe he would be wiling to host it there?

I'm not exactly sure what's happening here.....  used to be a website for Cutting Edge, now Wasatch, but still cutting edge apparently renamed.

I've had situations before where designs have floated between 'printers' and it's not always clear if they were authorized to do so, or who actually owns the designs.   Not that there's a ton of money in this (with Shapeways there's precious little in it for the designer) but a design is still the property of the designer.  RP just makes it really easy to exchange the 'mold'.

The only clue I really got in the shell I was handed was that it was printed in a non-Shapeways material but the design was on Shapeways.  Hmmm.  It was WAY better quality than FUD or any of their materials.

Keystone Details has been my salvation for the D16 project, great stuff.

But every time I try to search their system it's a head scratcher.  Almost impossible to find stuff you KNOW is there.

I guess  if you were to read through all the posts here, you might get more info on who and how printed the shell.

Now I do recall that it was a gray resin and had faint diagonal striations (but not FUD material).  I think Shapeways was was offering a new printing method and material at that time.  I recall mentions that the quality was better than FUD/FXD but it was flexible and maybe prone to warping.  I think it was an early attempt of SLA printing (like what the Photons that many members here own).  I haven't visited Shapeways for some time (and they keep changing the names of their printing technologies), so I don't know if they still offer that type of printing.

So Mack trucks made a few locomotives. I think they only made 21 total. A few of them were 6 wheeled. I made this 3D body and stuck it on a Kato E unit truck.

This is only a first test print. Have already added more detail and will make new sideframes as well.

Question is what is the best motor to put in it these days?  I'd like a big gear reduction, so either a gearhead or double worms. What's the new motor all the kids are talking about?  @u18b @mmagliaro

But I have a similar chassis already and the gear ratio is only 32:1.
