"Loosely based"? Not on the Hollywood cars, maybe on the PE 100 class.
I guess it depends on one's definition of "loose"?   :P

I have several unbuilt N-scale Pacific Electric Hollywood car trolley kits (released from 2009-2011 & currently OOP) that I ordered from Miniatures by Eric. From what I could tell, the resin shells matched the prototype but I never took detailed measurements to compare them with photos or drawings. The resin castings were good quality and typically bubble free.  My only negative comments are that the thickness of the resin material could be seen around the window openings which gave away the fact it was an N-Scale model and sometimes the shells had a slight bowing out side-to-side or lengthwise but nothing major that could not be fixed. The link below shows all the N-scale trolley kits that Eric produced during the short period he was offering them on his website. As with many cottage industries if you did not support his efforts & scoop them up when available then you probably missed out. Some of the kits came with excellent cast metal detail parts and if you wanted a running version, resin floors w/keyhole shaped openings could be added that fit Tomytec power chassis trucks & their associated driveline/motors.

I applaud Showcase Miniatures for producing a new N-Scale PE trolley kit and hope the public rewards them by opening their wallets. This would prove that a market for 1/160 scale interurban modelers does exist & we're out here waiting for newer releases down the road.

Thanks for the link, Paul, I had no idea Eric had such a variety of PE prototypes available. I would have loved to get my hands on one of the box motors. And yes, I also support Showcase' efforts to bring out traction (and other) models, they have produces many wonderful and much needed items in the past.
