Jim the Showcase Miniatures tower is 10.25 inches tall, each of three sides are 0.375 inches wide.
If you purchase it is nice and crisp and makes a great model. Be aware it is quite fragile and so you will need to handle it with care during and after assembly.
Have fun.
Rod.

Thanks, Rod - that's around three feet wide - would likely work for the taller towers, methinks.

0.375" is actually 5 scale feet wide. So yes, that would be best for larger/taller towers.

Maybe you could get @Lemosteam to etch them (like he offered earlier) and to sell them on his website. All he needs is some reference materials.dimensions.  That would give you the best possible model.

I usually ballpark 1/8" to a foot - I know it's not dead on but for ballpark purposes close enough - gives me the general idea, anyway.

Don't want to impose on @Lemosteam because I really have no firm numbers to give him.

Ordered some of the Showcase Miniatures, we'll see how they look for the biggies, and I'll bash up some of the smaller ones with tubing.  It's a start.

Thanks, John!

Another type.  I suspect the towers used will vary throughout the country.

Maybe I need to take a trip west (dreaming...).

Hi @jereising , My Momma used to say:  "It's not imposing when someone offers."  Just let me know, I would make them to your exacting specifications, particularly for such a grand layout as yours.

Is this the type of tower you are looking for?

I dunno about "taller," I got a 295ft tall guy tower that is close to 5ft sides, has a climbing ladder up the middle. 295ft isn't that tall in the tower world.

I've got the Showcase Miniature tower now, it will do nicely for the tall tower - it's very nice, the pic on their website doesn't do it justice.

Smaller towers will be 1/16" brass emulating the fold down style.

If you look at the prototype, there's a tower much like the Showcase just south of tunnel 9 in current shots of the loop - looks like it's been erected recently, almost certainly part of the PTC system.

Jim,
Are you also thinking about adding ATCS antennas?

Just as a clarification, the sides of the N Scale tower are only .2" wide, or 2'8" in N. This may make it more of an option for some of you.

Although I do not KNOW if ATCS and PTC share the same facilities, I strongly suspect they do.  Where I see PTC being installed, I don't see more than one tower per area, which indicates to me they share.

I'm just going by what I see, I have no particular knowledge of either ATCS or PTC other than broad strokes.  Like everything else in my life, seems I'm being educated as I go :-)

The ptc towers are 40' crankover towers. We do have some 70' ones but for the most part, every tower at intermediates and control points are 40'. The hinge point is about 10' up.

Yes, they share the same tower on the bnsf. Intermediates only have a ptc antenna and control points have ptc(top antenna)  and ares/atcs (bottom antenna) in the same antenna. One on the tip top and the other about 6' below it.
