Chassis used Bachmann Spectrum Class J.
Engine chassis sides milled down as well as rounding front.
Four wheel trailing truck replaced with single axle larger wheel diameter set back per 49er spects.
Tender casting started off as a cast resin Santa Fe long haul oil tender cut down in length for 49er tender casting. Rest of tender scratched built from 49er pictures and lower sides extended. Also 1/2" cut out of metal chassis.
Diaphragm on the back of the tender was assigned to passenger power. They were used to buffer the trailing passenger cars.
Decals custom made for this build.
All wheel's on engine and tender has red side walls.
Re-drilled new hole in metal draw bar and cut off the excess for closer hookup.

As soon as I saw the shells primed in gray, I thought it was going to be a success.  Nice work!

Were the drivers really brown like that?

You guys are late to the party. Been seeing these all over Facebook!

I think these as Supertubine's handiwork, but @UP4-8-8-4 can confirm.

Love this loco!

I've been around on this forum for a long time, I've seen way to many impressive builds from others, that's what inspires me.

Looked at a lot of 49er pictures during the build, and from some of them could pretty much tell they most likely were brown to match all the trucks.

Please tell me that he hasn't already done a GTW U4.  I would not want to find out it happened and I missed out.  I would be happy to pre-order.

UP4-8-8-4- phenomenal work on both the 49er and Blue Goose.  And thank you for making this a separate thread instead of waiting until the next Weekend Update, right after my "hey look, I decaled a baggage car" post.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

Beauty!

Did you print the decals yourself or did you have someone else print them. I'm assuming ALPS?
