Life Like/Walthers SW9 wheels

I have an early version of the Life Like SW9/1200 before Walthers took over the brand. The problem is that the wheel flanges do not like code 55 track. Is there a way I can cut down the flanges, or would Walthers have a parts department where I can order a lower profile version?

Thanks!

Here's a post, and the following post, discussing replacing the Life-Like wheelsets with current Kato axles: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=40336.msg499183#msg499183

NWSL also makes replacement wheels.

True, but the current run of Kato wheels (blackened with low-profile flange and narrow tread) look just as good as the NWSL wheels. And Kato wheelsets are much less expensive.  If one as the ability to push the half-axles inwards a skoobitch then Kato wheels seem a good choice.

I converted one of the LL's to the NWSL wheels and I swear that they weren't round. I think @Chris333 had the same experience if I remember correctly.

I don't know if I did the NWSL wheels on a SW9 or and Arnold S2, but yeah they wobbled. They had 1mm axles instead of the normal 1.5mm. Ended up turning down stock wheels, they are still under my HH660.
