The engine models that have been done enough (in my opinion) are the F7, GG1, Big Boy, and Challenger (UP version).

As I get older (I am 71) my modeling has gotten more picky. Just because it says Santa Fe on the side is no longer an automatic purchase. Bachmann lettered their small 2-10-2 for Santa Fe but that engine has zero resemblance to anything Santa Fe used. It is a great running and pulling engine so I used the out that I have and relettered them for my own private road as I have for many other excellent engines I wanted.

Broadway Limited has the 3800 in HO and they have come out with N versions of other HO engines so I am hopeful. The same hope is for them to release the HO Santa Fe RSD-15 Alligator in N Scale.

Sadly the only two that I could even vote for have been done by Athearn. But I don't think they pull as great as the FEF does.

And personally, I agree with Point353. I wish Kato would do the E7A/B. I know I would be up for two ABB sets. One in Daylight and one in Golden State colors.

Chalk up another vote for a Kato EMD E7. And while we're at it, let's see if they'll do an E6 as well.

Kato, C-C and LL BLI did E-8s.  All of them did B&O.  Great for me (altough I do have to change the number on the Kato.    I did not buy BLIs.
LL did C&O E-8s.  LL did E-8s in Erie Lackamoney, but not Delay, Linger and Wait.

BLI, LL and C-C did E7s.  Only LL and BLI did B&O.  C-C did E-7s in  DGLE.  I did not buy the BLIs

LL did E-6s.  LL did B&O.

C-C, LL, BLI and Kato all did PAs.  BLI even did PA-2s.  All of them did NYCs.  Not one of them did P&LEs.  I was surprised that BLI did not do PAs.
LL did D&RGWs.  C-C and LL did Penn Tuscan.

The LL plastic frame power runs very nicely, pulls well and looks good.   LL did do some Es and PAs in split frame.   It looks like the plastic frame shells will fit the split frame.  I never bought any LL split frame PAs, but I did buy one E-8.  It runs, pulls and looks good.

I voted for a 4-6-2 and 2-10-2.  I would like to see someone make an accurate heavy 2-10-2. The CC offering was way to long.  The MP Pacific is ok, but I would like to see a better one.  I would really like to see some smaller runs with a a universal drive train and road specific boilers....i.e. an SP P-10 or P-8.

The poll's results show the Dreyfus Hudson winning by a landslide (at least that is how this result would be described by politicians). 
I have suggested that model to Kato few times over the last decade. If they did make it (and hopefully the NYC 20th Century Ltd. train to go along) that would make my year!  Plus that would be another East-coast train from Kato.

The Lifelike now Walthers E8 shell is HORRIBLE. That tooling should be destroyed immediately!

The LL  E7 and E6 were decent though we'll probably never see them again (WKW).

BLI has done the E6, E7 and E8 in various roadnames. And they come with sound. I didn't get any E7's but I have E6's in UP (I use them with my Kato City train) and Santa Fe. And E8 in Santa Fe.

"  Seems to be some difference of opinion there.  Spookshow gave all of the LL Es fairly high marks, and while every review I've seen notes some detail problems, for 20 year old tooling on a locomotive with a street price under $40 (until Walthers got hold of them), I am happy enough with mine. Would I rather have Katos? Sure. But at the time, I needed quite a few, and having E6, E7 and E8 from the same company, available at the same time, made it much easier to mix and match.

While I would not use "horrible" to describe the LL E-8 shell, clearly it is not the best, nor is the RR (this applies to the RR E-7 shell, as well), for that matter.  Indeed, the LL E-6 and E-7 shells are much better.

I think that this poll by Kato is all about the Hudson . Everything else is a distraction . Is there enough interest in that Hudson to warrant a stab into the east .

I often don't agree with Spookshow.

But yeah, it is a matter of opinion. Here is a Kato E8 on the left, and the LL E8 on the right. Which one looks like that classic E8 "bulldog"? 


I found it amusing when Walthers was selling these in A-A sets for $200+
