These V5.0s can hold an entire song (although I didn't record that on the video), but wait until the end.

I was limited by which songs I could convert to a .wav file, because my iTunes library has a lot of Apple protected MP4 files, which I couldn't convert.  Also, my wife enjoyed that show BrainDead a few years ago, and that song was a distinct part of the storyline.  I wanted to creep her out a little.  :D

There's a lot more memory on the LokSound V5.0 decoders as compared to the V4.0s.  So much that you can add a lot of sound effects to the decoder.  It also takes less time to load the sound files to a V5.0 decoder, if not full.  While it might take twenty-five to thirty minutes to load a sound file to a V4.0 decoder, it only takes six or seven minutes to do the same file to a V5.0.  These V5.0s can hold an entire song (although I didn't record that on the video), but wait until the end.

Hi Dave,  I'm not a big fan of sound equipped locomotives. Because of my job I'm exposed to the noise of the real thing and long story short, I have ringing in my ears 24 / 7.  When running my layout, I tend to turn my sound equipped models sound system off, but I have to admit that is hilarious :D

No! Do not be seduced by the AR1.

Go get yourselves one of these: https://tonystrains.com/product/dcc-specialties-onguard-og-ar-auto-reverser-circuit-breaker

Dave, do the world a favor, smash that AR1 with the most convenient heavy object.

Seeing as I have 2 already that I have no problems with, I don't see the need to blend it  :scared:

This. I had an AR1 that had run reliably for several years take down my whole layout. Never going down that road again.

I haven’t tried anything of these things yet but have plans for a reverse loop.  I have an nce powercab so the one you linked to appears not to like the power cab.  Any thoughts/advice on this one , Tam Valley Depot DCC Dual Frog Juicer/Auto-Reverser/Circuit Breaker.?
Thanks
Steve

I have a Dual Frog Juicer on order now.  I have an ESU system, but the juicer will work fine with any DCC system.  I’ll post more when I receive and install it later this week.

Just be aware that the Dual Frog Juicer in reverser configuration (and probably the case with that OnGuard circuit, as well) require a DCC power source capable of >2 amps. It only needs to sense that much current for less than a millisecond while a wheel crosses the gap, etc., but it has to be that much or it won't work. If Steve is using a bare Power Cab, it's rated for only 2 amps and therefore may not have enough reserve power to trip the reversing logic.

So what is the nature of the problem with the AR1?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.
