Ah, yes.  Hello, I represent Mantle Ridge Holdings and would like to replace leadership with Harrison Hunter.  He will make this a profitable railroad from the beginning. And we only ask that he get $200 million dollar salary, and please put a vote to the shareholders that the SC 3.0 pay out an $84 million dollar bonus to cover what he lost by voluntarily coming out of retirement to run your railroad and make you even more money.  Remember,  you have to spend money to make money.

"In breaking news after the Mantle Ridge announcement, SC 3.0 has bought back all shares of the railroad and will go private.  "

Hahahaha!  Yes!   :D

Go buy some lumber and bench work scratch building supplies. Sun is out and we demand progress shots.

Wish I could, Peter, but it sure has been raining here today.  I did manage to buy some lumber, but only that which I could fit in my car without anything hanging out.  I can, perhaps, start building the table legs this weekend, but there was no way I could purchase the 10' lengths of lumber that I need to build the necessary L-girders.  Tomorrow is Mother's Day, so I'm not sure how far I'll get on this project this weekend.

That said, I did buy some lumber for another project.  It turns out that my five-year old daughter was a little more upset by the conveyance of the Seaboard Central 2.0 than I expected, and she has begged me for a few days now to build her a new layout, so she can run her N scale train.  So, I built the table that you see underneath the HCD layout in the following picture:

The HCD table is merely temporary to allow me to test my new HO trains until I get the new layout going.  I'll figure out where to put my daughter's table once I get things built.  Oh, and I cheated.  I hooked the N scale loop of track up to the same DCC system that the HO scale track up top is on, because I don't have two DCC systems yet.  I bet that I'm the only person who can consist an N scale locomotive in an HO scale consist.  :D

Nice to see you went back to N-Scale and got your daughter a Z scale train set.

Yeah, it's N scale . . . and Z scale.  Yeah.  That's it.

That is so cute - a little N scale layout under a bigger H0 layout!  Small scale for a small-scale person, larger scale for the big person.  It would be even cuter if it shows you and your daughter operating each of the layouts together.  :)

Very clever DCC solution - DCC is scale agnostic (up to a point).

Two problems with that: (1) I only have one DCC controller at present, and (2) I'm not photogenic.

That said, I had my five-year-old running the N scale train earlier.  I taught her which button increases speed and which one decreases speed.  She's got a good touch on the throttle.  I was nervous, though, because I haven't put any sides on her table yet, and that Unitrack I salvaged from the scrap box comes really close to the side of the table.  :scared:  She kept the train under control, though.  No derailments.

Ok, I would settle on a photo with your backs towards the camera where you both face the corresponding layouts. That way the throttle doesn't even have to be visible (or only one throttle is seen, that's ok too).  I'm not forcing you to do it but I just think it would make a cute photo (as a memento for the family and to show on TRW).  I'm also assuming that your daughter is short enough not to be as tall as the upper layout.

Okay, I'll admit that would be pretty cute.  Maybe tomorrow, since it's past her bedtime.

Actually, Dave, that sounds a little like me running O scale trains yesterday with @seusscaboose . Running a 30' long, 150 lbs worth of train around a most interesting multi-level layout where you're thinking it's going to pop out of one tunnel and it's actually running over top of your head is some trippy stuff until you get the route down...
