The Woodland Scenics' inclines are installed.  There are four pieces to achieve the 4" rise in eight feet.  I think they'll work fine.  But for the use of this product on Aly's layout, I don't know that I would have tried it, but these inclines are easy to work with.  I used Loctite PowerGrab to glue the inclines to the 2" foam and tee pins to hold them in place while the adhesive dries.

The globs smeared around the inclines are lightweight spackling that I used to fill much of the gaps in the inclines, to smooth where the roadbed will glue to it and to solidify it somewhat for when I sand the roadbed to even out the grade.  There are one or two spots between the different incline sections that need to be smoothed out a little.  But, I'll use my straightedge and get the grade as even as possible.  It doesn't have to be perfect, but I don't want a roller coaster.

Now, we just wait for the adhesive and lightweight spackling to dry.

I don't understand how the original bridge clearance was OK for single track, but not for double-track crossing.

The longer a bridge is, the larger the members required to support it. Larger bridge members = deeper bridge = less clearance. This particular bridge went from single-track to double-track; plus, it's on an angle, making it longer still.

It always amuses me how we tend to try to convince each other to do something other than what we plan on doing...

Or as often around here, OP says:

“My non-negotiable constraints are that I don’t physically have room for X, my prototype never did Y, and I hate Z.”

Very next post:  “That’s great but have you thought about doing X & Y?  Also you really, really should do Z.”

Even better, the combination of a helix and Woodland Scenics foam risers:

That is the funniest thing that I think that I’ve seen in a while.  Well played.
