In other words, this little Seaboard Central GP9 (and the Party Bus, "Gull"!) are still employed:

The GP9 has a roof-mounted exterior strobe light.
But, does Gull (aka the 'Party Bus') have a roof-mounted interior strobe light?

If not, sounds like a job for @DKS !

You bastard.  I was just sitting here, minding my own business and nibbling on Wheat Thins when I read your post.  You literally made me laugh and spit crackers all over the screen.  So gross.  ;)

Thanks for the laugh, though.

Away from TRW for just a few days. Upon return there is a new layout thread already at page 135! Wow! That Foxx really knows how to draw a crowd. 😀😀😀

Here’s the GP9 that I started working on last week and suffered all sort of problems from decoderizing to lighting.  I finally got all of that resolved, with the exception of needing a speaker to replace the pair that I boogered.  Unfortunately, an online order that included a new speaker and enclosure uncharacteristically still hasn’t shipped from my pusher.

So, this weekend’s project was to fix some detailing errors by Athearn.  Advertised as detailed to match the particular locomotive and with a picture of the model available online, I confidently ordered the model.  Sadly, that’s not what I received.  My locomotive had a winterization hatch (on an SAL Geep!) and the horn was in the wrong place.  As you can see in the photo below, you’ll notice a small white spot on top of the short hood in front of the horn.  That’s where the horn was.  I also pried off the winterization hatch.  That order with the replacement speaker also includes a bottle of dark green SAL paint, which I’ll use to touch up the plugs in the shell left from removing/moving these details.

Oh, and because nothing has gone right on this engine, I spent this afternoon replacing the other details that I broke off after I dropped the locomotives on my workbench.  Thankfully, the actual fall was less than 6”, and the details that came off were not damaged.  They just needed to be replaced by these hamfisted hands.  Ugh.

Nice looking loco nonetheless Dave.
I’m sure your misfortunes with it are absolutely not related to changing the name of the layout. 🤨

I’ve been kinda lazy with the layout after building the highway bridge and the roads.  I haven’t painted the last pieces of the road on the south side of Aberdeen that I built, because I hadn’t yet finished terraforming around the road.  That, however, occurred this afternoon.  Lightweight spackling, folks.  My go-to product for finishing the scenic forms:

It’s hard to tell in the photo with the horrible contrast of an unpainted, black styrene road and white spackling, but I shimmed up the road to create some minor rises and dips to avoid just a flat section of highway.  Once the spackling dries, the road will be popped out, cleaned up, and readied for painting and weathering.

Being south of Aberdeen you will need details like sofas, Bud light bottles and a few major appliances along the drainage ditches next to the road.

Feeling lazy today and mostly enjoying this late 1960s Seaboard Coast Line consist:

But, I did piddle with one section of road that needed a sidewalk.  The sidewalk is roughed in.  I still need to scribe in the joints and the curb, but I wanted to verify that the tapering of the sidewalk down to the track was sufficient and smooth before I apply the final coat of paint.  I want to allow for not only trains running through, but also track cleaning.  I have a homemade track cleaning car with a Masonite pad that drags on the rails.  It overhangs the railheads.

I scribed the sidewalk joints, which went better than expected.  The primer allowed me to see the lines better than scribing bare styrene, and it didn’t peel or chip away adjacent to the scribed lines.  Next will be the concrete color paint, but I’m out of my go-to paint.  That will have to wait for another day.
