I didn’t feel like building any railing sections today, so, instead, I repaired the damage to the scenery around the footprint of the bridge, to make scene a little more finished looking than it has been:

When that ground foam dries, perhaps I’ll paint and ballast the track.  That’ll make a world of difference.

Just so you know, seeing your work on this layout is one of the main reasons I check out TRW.  :)

Wow!  That’s quite the honor.  Thank you very much.  I’m trying to give back, because I have learned so much here at TRW.  There’s a lot of talent here worth sticking around for.

Well, I lied.  In addition to repairing the base scenery around the highway bridge, I did build one railing section today.  I also painted the track under the bridge in anticipation of ballasting before the bridge can be permanently installed.

I took a few days off from the bridge, but, tonight, I built the eighth of twelve railing sections.  And like that, I’m two-thirds of the way finished.  Tonight was one of those nights where things weren’t cooperating, so I struggled through this railing section and then walked away.

According to NORAD, Santa was just sighted over Aberdeen, North Carolina and headed northwest.  I better get to bed . . . well, except for all of the gift wrapping I still need to do.  The kids being home for remote learning has made getting ready for Christmas a little harder this year.

On the layout, though, the bridge is closing in on completion.  Four railing sections, and it’ll be off to the paint shop.  But, when it comes time to permanently set the bridge, the track is now painted and ballasted.  Here’s to hoping that I don’t receive the gift of a glued-up turnout on Christmas morning.  :)

Merry Christmas, all!

Trains are running on it as we speak. 8)  Still giving pleasure this many years later.  Thanks, Dave. :)

@narrowminded,

I am so glad to hear that.  I hope it gives you enjoyment for many more years.  I may have never told you, but after y’all left with it, we went down to the basement, and my daughter, Aly, was a little heartbroken with the emptiness where the former Seaboard Central 2.0 once resided.

Merry Christmas,

Among my Christmas gifts, I received a MicroMark Sand-It station and some needle files.  That sanding station is a godsend for my bridge railings.  I was able to knock out two more railing sections this afternoon.  Only two more sections to go!

A Christmas miracle this morning: the turnout wasn’t stuck with glue from ballasting!  :D

Excellent news !  I haven't had any stuck turnouts since I started using Ballast Magic.  Stuff is so easy to work with, no more 50/50 mix for ballast work for me !

I've done a couple sections of the layout with this, no issues whatsoever.  I see in the comments under the above video people saying it doesn't work.  I'm not exactly sure what they are/are not doing but I love the stuff.  Used it for simple ground cover too, mixing it same as the ballast with ground cover, acts the same way.  Mix, spread, mist.  Good as gold.
