And, we're off and running.  I built the two table legs for my roughly 6' x 10' table (not counting the yard), which I have put on casters.  Hopefully, the basement floor isn't so out of level that I have to remove the casters and install leveling bolts.  We'll see.  Stealing the idea from MR project layouts, I hope the casters will work, because it sure would be nice to be able to roll the table around, if not just for access during construction, but also for lighting for photography.

I'm going to use L-girders to set the joists, but I wasn't able to get the 10' lengths of lumber in my car this weekend due to weather.  Maybe tomorrow.  Lauan plywood will be installed on the joists and then 2" foam on top.  It'll be like working on a HCD again!  Sort of.  Some may argue that the lauan plywood is unnecessary, and that's possibly true.  But, I may decide to install Tortoise switch machines in the future, and, if so, the lauan plywood will give an attachment point for the Tortoises.

When you hear slack running in and out like the prototype and the locomotives transitioning from throttle to dynamics at the top of a grade, it is a beautiful thing...

Look Mr. Fox, if this layout is in HO and not N, shouldn't the posts be at least twice as long? They definitely ought to be filled with eight times the volume of information.

I want to personally thank each and every one of you that purchased items from Dave Foxx's N Scale Emporium.  With your help, I was able to buy the necessary track, roadbed, and wiring to build the Seaboard Central 3.0.  I also bought more lumber today to build the L-girder table:

Now that you're balls-deep into HO standard gauge, what's to become of the On30 Tweetsie?

I still have plans for it getting built at the far end of the basement.  Once the HO layout is up and running, I'll be able to see exactly what remaining space I can dedicate to the On30 layout.

You laugh, but it happens.  Part of the reason I want to switch over to Sergent Couplers.  Much less slack action.

Thanks!  It will happen.  I promise.  I love my ten wheelers and cannot wait to see them in action.  I decided to build the HO layout first, because I can get entire trains running much quicker.  I'm likely going to have to build rolling stock for the On30 layout.  It makes more sense to have the HO layout up and running for those days where I don't feel like working on the layouts and just want to run trains.  It will take longer to get the On30 operational.  Besides, I have to figure out a track plan.
